This is a superb course. The greens are the best I have ever played on, superbly drained and maintained. Highly recommend this venue to anyone.
Played here midweek January ,12 ( £10 using 2 FORE 1). Good value for a quick ,fun knockabout. If you put the surroundings here to one side ,although this flat course seems basic ,thought has been put into the design. Most par 4's are short ,although with some clever hazards short of the greens,& fairways generous making it hard to lose a ball. Greens were fantastic for any course let alone a pay & play & although it's definitely not Sunningdale i always come away from here having enjoyed it as it makes a change from playing 430 yard par 4's. Not a lot of sand and sea beside the M4 and Heathrow Airport, hence the term "links" is definitely a bit tongue in cheek. This is a flat, very open course with the rough cut back so it is generally fairly easy to find your ball even when hit in totally the wrong direction. Hazards are the odd ditch, pond, trees, bunkers and out of bounds. Most holes are fairly straightforward, though 12 and 13 are pleasantly challenging. The surroundings are a touch bleak with a Southall housing estate to one side and the M4 and Heathrow very close on the other. The motorway noise off the 15th tee is loud enough to be a distraction. Overall condition of the course, greens and clubhouse facilities was pretty reasonable and a good deal better than I had expected. On the special deal I came across of £4 a round definitely excellent value for money golf.
Played here for the first time, winters day after a few days rain, i was pleased to find the fairways were still quite firm, greens were in superb condition for a public course, true and fast. A walm welcome in the club house, and awsome bacon bap to start the round. So i don't know what the ohter golfers are moning about, this course is well worth a visit. I'll be going back!!!!!!!!
Played here on the 11/2/07 using the Greenfree vouchers (2-4-1) I wasn't very impressed firstly by the range. Dirty golf balls dispensed followed by no tees on the mat, but i thought at least they have a range to warm up on. After arriving at the first again i wasn't impressed by the first hole and by the 2nd 3rd etc. It was like playing an open flat field with bunkers and a hole. The course did start to show some charater around the 6th hole (par 5) had a lynx effect and the next 4 or 5 holes from there were quite enjoyable. Then unfortunately we returned back to the field for the last few holes. The course is very short with the exception of 3 fairly long par 3's at 190 odd yards, quite testing with wind against. The noise of the busy motorways could be heard throughout the round and the occasional plane overhead wasn't great. This is definately a course for the beginner as a low handicapper would slice through this course. Many par 4's required just a wedge in after a semi decent drive. (I ended up with 3 birdies and a chance for another 2 playing a bad round) For £12.50 (on the voucher) this was a nice little round. Definately NOT worth £25 a round. With a nice bar and friendly staff. If you live near by, play it. I wouldn't travel far though.
Played here midweek Jan.07 (£9 using 2 FORE 1). Played here for the 2nd time.Everything i said in my first report (see Jan.06)still holds true . Excellent value for money ,good conditioning & still not many people about. The greens were as good & as fast as anything i've seen this winter.Unusually for a public type course there were hardly any pitchmarks & my 20ft putt on the 1st rolled 8ft past the hole. These greens & surrounds are better than the private course i play at. Although the fairways had a few wet patches on them after the recent wet weather they had good grass coverage . I found this a fun course to play. Kevin B.
I'm a low handicapper and still found this course fine. Ok its not the longest but if you are honest about the OOBounds markers its a test. If you are really long then go when the wind is up as it's quite open and really hold the ball up on some holes.
Quite an easy course and not very long. The first few holes are a bit basic and has a "field" kind of feel. It gets a bit more interesting later on. £12.50 on the 2-4-1 scheme makes it good value but definately not worth £25. Shot 6 over here (i play off 14).
Played for the first time here on 21st July 06. Few of my friends said that it would suit my game as I hit the ball long usually. I see what they meant. On each hole there was usually a bail-out on one side where your ball would still be playable off another fairway or light rough. Having said that if you mishit a drive there is plenty of OB to contend with. It is flat but I wouldn't say easy. A few longish doglegs with some streams to test your course management. Some longish par 3's as well to test out your iron play. We played in baking weather and the fairways were brown and bare so no complaints there. I played 4 strokes under my handicap which included an eagle on the 9th - my first ever ! Good value for money I felt, lower handicaps would eat up the course. However it was well worth a visit and will be back.
Played here midweek January 06 ( £9 using the Daily Telegraph Open Fairways card ). I'd heard negative things about this pay & play in the distant past but i found it to be a well conditioned , well layed out & enjoyable course. As you'd expect from Alliss / Clark this is well designed course that makes good use of the available space . It's easy walking & has links course similarities (high moundings etc.).Also ,it's fairly open (it's quite difficult to actually lose a ball here )& has several short par 4s & as a result it's not a particularly challenging course but the condition & design more than make up for this. Far better greens than you'd expect from a municipal (hardly any of the usual pitchmarks )& these greens wouldn't be out of place at a decent private club. Shortcomings are that the surroundings aren't pretty (high rise flats, warehouses, the M3 ). We hardly saw anyone & went round in 2 hours 50 minutes & why this course seems to be very underused is a mystery . Kevin B.
Played this course 29/3/02. Very impressed with its condition - the greens were really quite firm! I admit I found it a bit on the short side (seven par 4s of 300 yards or fewer) but that's fairly understandable considering its location and it's well worth a visit. Very enjoyable round, and very friendly staff.
I feel that this course deserves more credit than its getting at the moment. all year long this course has played its greens too some rather poor weather and has stood up to this very very well. you wont know until you try !!
The course this year is in very good shape. The greens are in superb condition and the drainage has been improved a lot lately with a few more ditches for drainage. The course can be played fairly easily if u hit a straight ball over 180 yards you should be ok. The food in the bar is excellent and fairly well priced. The staff are a big asset to the course they are friendly and easy to get on with. Overall out of 10 i give the course a definite 10.
At the moment there has been alot of water on many courses in the area, but AIRLINKS has still been able to stay open, because of the great groundstaff working as hard as they can.The greens are all in play, but mats are now in use on the tee's.
The course has been vastly improved in the last year, with new ditches and bridges on 5 of the holes. Two new water hole featurs have been finished on the 14th & 15th , also the drainage has been made better again this year as you will see.
We had a great time on the course, one of the better public course we played on. It makes a change to have some water holes and a fair amount of doglegs. The Greens were in lovely condition compared to other courses we have played at. If you hit into the rough remember where, as balls can be easily lost. Overall definately worth a visit.
This course is ideal for players having problems with any aspect of their game, as it is very open and fairly easy. The greens are very true and in good condition. As regards the mounds that run along some holes on the front nine. It clearly states on various signs along the mounds that a free drop is available.
