Amarante Golf Clube

Very laid back outfit. You phone for a tee time and they just say yes, end of conversation. Not easy to find as the club is out of Amarante in the hills. Very nice people, the club house is excellent with stunning views of the surrounding country side. The course is in excellent condition, neat and tidy with out being 'fussy'. There is a fair slog up hill from the 9th to the 10th. I would recommend a buggy or at least a battery trolley. I have played there 3 times already and I am going back again this Spring. The course is not overly hilly, it is just where there are hills they can be steep. Les Jackson from the Hesketh Golf Club Southport, now there is a nice course!

Amarante is a hidden gem in an area with few courses. It's not very long but makes up for this in difficulty and the beautiful design of many of the holes. There are seven par 3's all of which are creatively designed and challenging. Of these, 11 and 17 are particularly interesting. The views are stunning and there is plenty of water plus superb greens which will hold a high shot in but are very fast and true to putt on. A modern and pleasant club house is complemented by friendly staff. All in all, an excellent course!
