An excellent links course by James Braid now with trees and shrubs that is a challenge to.low and high handicappers alike. In the last few years it has been updated to take account of the longer hitters and is a difficult par 71. It has several keynote par 3s and 2 long par 5s that are kept in magnificent condition; it is particularly good in winter and wet conditions since it is on chalk and drains easily.Well worth a visit.

Superb course. Fantastic greens and a real test. Undulating fairways leave your drive in the lap of the gods and needs to be a crisp strike to bite on the greens. Natural downland course as good as you will play. Keep your wits about you as you cross the busy road though. Most members very friendly

Played here June 09 . Fairly uninspiring course. There's a long walk to the first tee (by the end of the round i'd worked out why )& the opener is a fairly bland hole. The best holes are the 2nd (which has a good approach),the risk/reward par 4 5th ,which is driveable & the par 3 17th ,which is the signature hole but the majority of the holes here don't linger in the memory . Also ,i'm sure at some stage they've changed the configuration here i think to it's detrement .Probably the original 1st is now the 16th (changed from a par 4 to a par 3 ).You now have to go from the 15th green ,which is near the car park ,back out again & play the last 3 holes in a loop which is a bit of a bind .This would explain the walk to the first ,which was probably the original 4th . Other shortcomings were the double dual carriageway A 217 which divides the course in two that spoils the ambience & that you have to cross twice & in places the course had a slightly worn feel. Good value menu in the clubhouse & friendly staff . Due to it's location & the nature of the holes not a course i'd wish to return to. Kevin B.

I have played Banstead often as a fee payer. Sometimes with a member and sometimes not. The course is really well kept and the fairways and greens excellent. It plays a little easier than par on good weather days but there are some well placed bunkers on the easier holes to catch you out. The first hole is currently being extended to a par 5 and the easy 2nd is having a dog-leg added to make it more difficult. These changes won't be complete until late summer but they don't affect the current holes. Look forward to trying the changes out. They have also removed some trees & bunkers, and adding new bunkers. Some strange descisions! I think the curretn club house bar (no ladies!) is a let down and the staff not very friendly. The members are generally friendly.

this is a very good course. i myself am a juniour member of banstead and find the course is always in perfect condition.the practice facilities are some of the best in the county. this is a very challenging course, although the fairways are wide and forgiving the rough is not so forgiving and forces you to play out sideways back onto the fairway. the only bad thing about this course is ther are no marshals, so if you are visiting on a friday expect to wait before taking every shot. all in all a £25 green fee is exelent value for money.

Fantastic...that one word sums up this course. i have played this course on at least 30 occassions, and must dissagree with the gentleman below who states members are rude etc. I have always found them to be accomidating and they often give helpfull words of wisdom. It is a course that certainly requires good course management. The greens are among the best you could possibley play on, All year round in perfect condition. Yes you do have to 'dodge' some traffic, having to cross a busy dual carriageway part way through the round. However if you are looking to play on a course that offers you a glimpse of what it would be like to play on the Pro circiut, you couldn't do much better than Banstead. If like myself you judge a course on its Greens and how well they play, then this is most certainly the course for you. All in all money VERY well spent.

A nice but not memorable. I played the course with three friends and all we can remember of our day was how rude and unpleasant the members were to us. They clearly did not want visitors on their course and it is the only time I can remember having one member walk almost 100 yards just to tell me to pull my socks up! I would recommend not playing here as despite shooting under my handicap I didn't enjoy my round due to the constant interuptions
