Our twenty strong Society played here last Friday afternoon and what a treat it was! We met around noon for a 1pm round and the catering staff provided all manner of sandwiches and meals very promptly. We sat in the modern clubhouse overlooking the island final green of the Needles nine holes and enjoyed watching those golfers completing their rounds with this challenging closing hole. We then started on time on the Becton nine holes and had an enjoyable round and switched to the Needles nine after that. The course is well laid out and in good condition. The greens were quite fast and true and the bunkers well cared for. Everyone very much enjoyed the Barton experience and it is well recommended.

Played this challenging course over two days in a howling gale. It is perched right on the top of a cliff overlooking the Needles and Isle of Wight and the views are stunning. We found the course is excellent condition with the greens running flat and true, the wind can play games with your mind and adds to the challenge. The modern clubhouse is a delight, with pleasant welcoming staff and the balcony overlooking the tricky island green is ideal for sitting out on and taking in the scenery. Good pro shop, also helpful. Stayed in nearby Stanwell Hotel in Lymington, only about 4 miles from course and worth a look also. Paul

Good testing course on all 3 nines. Needles is especially testing when the wind is blowing. Have played this course in dry and wet conditions of the courses in the area it dries quickest and is open a lot more than any others in the winter. Nice island green par 3 finish on Needles. Best nine holes are Becton.

As mentioned previously, if you get the right weather a day here will be well worth it. We played all three 9's, all different in their own way. Some excellant par 4's,interesting par 3's and some tough par 5's.The greens were very true and well paced although we played at the end of April and so the course may wear a little as the year goes on. Nice clubhouse with stunning views over the sea. All in all great value for money.
