played this course at the weekend for the first time in a couple of years and must say that it has improved a great deal. i would say the greens need a little bit more work as they sometimes dont run true, the fairways on the other hand were in good condition. its not the biggest of courses but you need to think your way around
This course is a real challenge also being a high handicapper made it a bit harder but must say that the fairways were kept in very good condition please note that the 8th is quite hard to find!
Our Society played here Fri 20 May. The course is a good challenge but the greens maybe needed a good cut as they were very slow and hard to read. The owners Mark + Del are really nice and welcoming and the full breakfast before play was delicious. Gary from the pro shop was really helpfull also. Great value for money. Overall thoroughly recomended. Thanks to Beacon Park for a great day and we will return again.
played today and really enjoyed the course, found it to be challenging in places where you have to chart your way to the green, also found that good shots are not always rewarded due to the underlations of the fairways but thats golf, found the greens were good not great but good but with some rainfall and a little sunshine they will get there, didnt use the club house so cannot comment but will definatly be coming back to play again
a very testing course indeed-including some short but very hilly par4s. as previously mentioned the par3s are reasonably easy. trouble with this course is the decent shots can end up 50 yards down a hill if you are fractionally off line with a tee shot. not really my idea of fun bearing in mind i play off 20. a great challenge to the low to medium handicappers and i would recommend this course to any decent player-occasional players if you want a challenge then yes. if you want to enjoy your golf then no. the club shop doesnt have much in but there is a decent driving range-but beware. you need to buy a tee the range hasnt been modernised and there are no manual tees down there. the bar snacks are excellent however
This is a superb golf course. Having only lived 3 miles from the course I for a number of years I recently decided to break my usual routine of attending a different club as force of habit and decided to give it a go. I play off a 18 handicap and found the course to be challenging but thoroughly enjoyable. I now play here 1-2 times a week and am glad I made the switch from a far inferior course. I have also had a couple of lessons here and Colin is straight to the point and 1 hour of his time will greatly improve you game. All the staff are friendly and although the bar looks a bit dated this is more than made up for by the staff and food. The course is well maintained and offers superb views to Blackpool and Wales on a clear day. Try this course and take a few moments to enjoy the scenery even if the old ball hooks in-to the trees you will leave with a smile on your face.
12/10/2008 played this course for the first time today and what a course it is, in fantastic condition despite all the recent rain, very friendly staff and members all are helpfull and polite, the course itself I found quite a challenge but as a high handicapper I suppose i would. loved the course and the people will certainly be playing here again and again
Having been an organiser of a golf society for a number of years, my main criteria was to supply my members with quality golf at a reasonable price, Beacon Park was the perfect venue. Friendly welcome from the pro shop, driving range to loosen up, wide n kind fairways, good quality greens, undulating lay out but not uncomfortable, magnificent views especially back nine. A few blind tees, a few long par 4 & 5s, but its all in front of you which helps when its your first visit, all was in excellent condition despite heavy overnight rain. The food and bar areas were the same standard, our after match meal was good hearty tucker with no complaints from any of our party (10 members visited). All in all fabulous value for money and this will be my first call when organising next years tour. Many thanks to all who looked after us on our visit.
A well maintained golf course with some tricky holes and fantastic views. This is the first time i have played it but will definitely play it again. The staff were friendly and very helpful, all this for 11 quid you cant go wrong.
Dudson Golf Society. We had the pleasure of playing this course for the first time on Sunday 5th August 2007, we were made to feel "at home" on arrival, the fee £20 including what we consider to be the best breakfast we have had on our travels, the course was a super challenge, with some nice testing holes and super views, we will certainly be booking for next year.
one of the best municiples in a 30 mile radius, friendly staff, good food, nice pint, course a bit hilly but good test of golf, all for 20 quid a round on a sunday, with a full english thrown in. danny k
played the beacon numerous times, enjoyable course and some pretty tricky holes, very good condition all year round, nicew clubhouse an the food is beltin
Having played Beacon Park regularly about 10 years ago I decided to give it another go in Jan 07.The course was excellently turned out for the time of year and played all par 4 and 5s off grass tees which was suprising. The course has not lost its challenge and plays very long.It has been well looked after and the greens were well kept for the time of year.
I`ve been playing this course for about 3 years now and it just keeps getting better. Big improvments made over the last 12 mths. Keep up the good work.
very good course in good condition all year round good value for money an very tricky. if you can not hit straight its tough as ruff is very deep, staff very friendly an well worth a trip.
I played this course for the first time on the 30/10/05 and found it both enjoyable and challenging. Despite getting four pars and three bogeys i still ended with a score over 100. If it aint straight, you are in trouble. Try the driving range before playing a round, it makes sense. Hope to be back soon, weather and missus permitting. Ha Ha. PS Excellent greens and fairways for time of year.
Fantastic course, very tricky. Can be very exhausting especially as you make your way through the last 5/6 holes, but when you get to the top by the beacon you get some very good views of Skem. Played this course many times in winter & summer. Winter can be a bit daunting as it's very heavy on the legs & obviously not getting a lot of run can make 2nd & 3rd shot much more challenging. Summer trips are very enjoyable. A word of advice however, if you can't drive straight , don't be hitting those Pro v1's as the rough will gobble them up very easily. Overall , 9.5 out of 10. Club house very relaxing too with v nice grub.
play this course more than any other course and it is great all year round.facilities excellent and course is fairly tricky.only thing that puts alot of people off is the hilly bits on course. i like it brilliant value cant fault it
I played this course for the first time in over 10 years on Monday of last week and was very impressed with the improvement greater maturity has produced. The course is well maintained and the greens not thrashed, which is unusual for many municipals. There was no waiting and the course is not overused during the week. The fairways are often sloping sideways, so not good if you have a fade! Very well kept and peaceful. Friendly staff in the cafe/bar and overall very good value.
A challenging course for all handicap's. No easy par5's the par 3 are a relatively easy and the par 4's are a mixed bag. Well worth a game on this very well maintained municipal.
Beacon Park is an excellent municipal course. The fairways are rolling and are often not flat so a good tee shot is essential to avoid trouble. The course has a few tough holes which are blind and you are unable to see the green till the 2nd or 3rd shot. A well kept, parkland course well worth the monety!
