Played Bigbury several times over a weekend in the summer of 2015 on a deal booked via the club. This is a really nice golf course, well laid out and presented in excellent condition in every aspect - fairway definition, bunkers, tee beds, greens all excellent. It offers a fair challenge to all handicap levels. Some of the views are stunning, particularly when you approach the land around Burgh Island - picture perfect. Off course, the clubhouse offers a good range of food and drink, and we were made to feel extremely welcome. The pro shop is very well stocked with all you would need from a club shop. Overall, terrific course, great value and a very warm welcome - would definitely recommend it to others.
This is a great course situated on a fantastic piece of land with great views of the coast and Dartmoor. The course is in great condition especially for the time of year when so many others are not even open. Excellent greens. Very friendly Members and Clubhouse staff. A great day out.
I played on the course last week, and considering the dreadful weather we have had the course was in amazing shape. The greens are superb and the views of the coast were the best from any course around there. The staff were extremely friendly. I will definitely be playing there again.
What views this course has challenging holes, not helped by wind from south west.played before christmas, course was in great condition, very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommended a visit , will certainly return in the spring
Played on a seriously windy day and still found the reasonably open course challenging, but enjoyable. Some narrow fairways and small greens, playing the course a few times to get the right line of the tee is clearly needed here (beware if you're prone to a hook!). The wind made some of the par 5's easily reachable, but the difficulty of the six par 3's more than made up for this. Quite a scenic course in places and definately worth a visit. I found the members that let me join them very welcoming and the pro shop was equally helpful, which is great if your a one-ball looking for a game. Definately worth a visit if you're in the area.
i played bigbury over easter and the course was in good condition- the greens were very nice. but very small and narrow!!- ie hard to hit. but be warned as there are many blind tee shots and most of the fairways are lined with trees that can make the tee shot seem intimidating though on most holes a driver is not needed. also, the stroke index doesn't reflect most holes. eg the 455yd par 4 first hole is SI 9 and the 233yd par3 tenth hole is SI 12 which i feel are 2 of the toughest holes on the course. but this course does have good views of devon and i would suggest that you play it if you are down in that part of the country
Played July 2001 Facilities excellent with friendly service Both fairways and greens were in superb condition Fairly open course, but some difficult holes as well. Played to my handicap (17) Its worth the detour to the course, and I would certainly go back again
