Bishopswood is a 'thinking' course, were good positional play and strategy will win the day. Long hitting is not a major requirement, but hitting the fairways certainly is : miss them and you are usually looking at a bogey. The short 5th is the most memorable hole, played from an elevated tee, over a stream to a green that slopes severely towards you. Club selection is critical here, and although its only short, it yields very few birdies and plenty of bogeys. The course, and especailly the greens, are usually in very good order, and the course is gently undulating, with only the 8th being a flat hole. The closing 9th requires a long iron or hybrid to make the fairway, followed by well judged short iron to a two tiered green, bunkered on both sides. Going long here will give you a cricket score. A most enjoyable place to play, with very friendly staff in the pro shop. The driving range could do with an update in terms of mats and balls, and the changing rooms are poor, but thsi is due to change with the introduction of a new clubhouse.

A well-presented and well-maintained little gem just far enough off the beaten track. A good assortment of holes that challenge all levels of golfer. Excellent surroundings - a great course, just a shame it is not 18 holes!

I think the course is well kept, in good condition for a nine hole course. I particualy like the 5th hole as it is picturesque and attractive. The fairways are nice and wide so you could have a second chance if you wasted a shot. The practice green is also well kept but could be a little bigger.

VERY ENJOYABLE COURSE YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO WORK THE BALL BOTH WAYS IF YOU ARE A LONG HITTER. THE 8TH HOLE IS A RISK AND REWARD HOLE POTENTIAL FOR BIRDIE BUT BOGEY IS WAITING. PRO SHOP AND CLUB HOUSE VERY WELCOMING WITH GOOD FOOD AND BEVERAGES. WELL WORTH A VISIT AND IF YOU PLAY TI YOUR HANDICAP YOU ARE DOING WELL.

I have played this course and found it to be a very well maintained and tight nine hole course. The Greens are superb and the practise green is true although a bit small. The course is lined with trees but it does have decent fairways for the less proficient of us. The short par 3 fifth hole is one of the most picturesque I have seen and is dificult to judge when windy. The members are friendly and the club house has a very welcoming atmosphere. The dining area is upstairs and over looks the course. The food was excellent and they were good size portions. All in all and exceptional nine hole course.
