This is hands-down the most impressive place I have ever been. And I only played the Lakes Course (twice). However the view from the clubhouse balcony of the Canyon Course was enough to have me looking at flights back to Phuket to play it. Any course that has club records held by Fred Couples, Greg Norman and the amateur record by Mr T Woods can't be shabby can it? I played here via phuketgolfcourse.com and paid 3850bht for green fee+caddy+round-trip transfers (the Canyon Course would have been 5950bht for the same deal). I was met at the course by their rep who took care of everything. I was then introduced to my caddy and so began the best golf of my life! The Lakes course is simply breathtaking. Water plays its part in 17 of the holes but unlike US style courses, it never invades or looks artificial. In fact the whole course looks like a very considerate gardener has come along and somehow managed to sneak golf holes into a stunning landscape. And what a landscape. It helps that the caddies can't speak much English, as I was free to just look open-mouthed at the beauty of the course without being rude. 35 out, 37 in and with four tees to choose from you can make this fun or impossible. The greens are very big and beautifully sculpted. No pitchmarks anywhere as the caddies repair them all (and no divots to replace either as they sand and seed instead) and you'll need their expert help on reading the lines. Standout holes for me were the par 3 8th and 12th and the impossibly beautiful 18th (rated as the best par 4 in Asia in 2003) which I managed to find in regulation twice and three putt twice! The clubhouse is beyond immaculate, the shop is very well stocked and quite frankly, if you told me I had to live at a country club and only play at one club again for the rest of my life, I wouldn't mind if it was here. If you're in Phuket - play here. If you don't, you'll regret it.

This is truly s great Golf course (Blue Canyon course) , if a might pricey (4500 baht), although it is a member's club, it is quite easy to get a game here, even at the weekend, but be prepared for a 5 hour round, when I played (29/06/2001) I played as a single and was let through by several 4-ball groups, play from the Blue tees for just that extra edge of excitement, the 13th is a 'pick your line, look at the ball (not the deep canyon between you and the fairway), swing through to a full finish' tee-shot - 240 yards carry. I made the fairway!! Just!! This course is kept in excellent condition and is a must for anyone in this area. When you've finished your game, shower and relax in the cool air-conditioned rest facility, they have beds for you to cool down on, I did'nt see Thai massage, but I'm sure it's available. The restaurant is lovely, but then they all are in Phuket.
