This place was a big surprise, wasn't expecting much for a local muni, but WOW! very good condition, and although the design is a bit lacking, it is more interesting than all the local courses, and the food was better than most of the local courses too. I think the £25 green fee was a tad high for what it is, a bit tatty around the greens and tees, and no proper rakes in bunkers, so nobody really cares about them, the design slightly bland, flat greens and fairways. With a good piece of modern design this course would really move up the rankings, in it's present state, probably a £15 course. If the council were to invest they would have a gold mine on their hands, what with it being on the M4 corridor. Good luck Broome Manor
This club knocks spots of all the local private courses, the greens are very true and about 9-9.5 on the stimp. The quality of the fairways is not great but playable, normally very short grass and firm, difficult to pick up wood shots and you have to be very precise with your crisp iron shots. The rough is short and thick, very punishing. The design of the holes is very good, and no two holes run in the same direction, which is good for different wind directions. The 9 hole course is also very good and is equal in condition. The catering is well above average with a good selection of main course food. This club is well worth the price and you will enjoy a very interesting days golf.
fantastic course but dont spill a drink on the course or it may close
This a great facility, and includes a tough 18 hole course a very good 9 hole course and the best practice facilities i have seen in Wiltshire, including an 18 hole automated driving range ! a good clubhouse with good food and service. This course is run by the local authority and is a credit to them, and the staff who maintain and run it. You need to book your round well in advance as it gets busy on the weekends.
I have just played a couple of the rounds at the Broome Manor course and can only find of the good things to saying of this complex. For a council run course it can certainly teach many other courses in your country a thing or two about how a course should be run and maintained. The fairways, greens and general surroundings are superb and the greenkeeper man , he is to be congratulated on a job well done, as you are saying, yes? My two friends who played the round with me, say that they are playing here a lot of the times, and never are they getting tired of the course. The clubhouse offer a nice welcoming atmosphere and the food is of the good kind. I am thinking much time can be spent inside of the building also!! On the top of all this good comments must be the fact that the prices are very reasonable on your pockets, my 2 friends, they tell me other courses are up to twice as much of the costings without being as good. Well done to Broome Manors!!
