I played here with my 20 year old son at the beginning of August using a Greenfree voucher and paid the day rate of £38. ( Still think a round should be charged at the round rate but most clubs do it ). The course was in good condition although I thought the bunkers let it down. In my opinion the front 9 is a little boring with a dry stone wall being the feature on many holes. The back 9 was a different course altogether with some great holes played amongst some steep hills. The course was very quiet in the afternoon and the weather was good so overall we enjoyed our round but doubt if we would return. A tip to others, buy a yardage chart, we did and it was invaluable on the back 9 as there were a few blind shots

A great golf course the last stop on our trip we played here on the 1/5/08. I was dubious when booking this course for our group as the website did not show many pics and I thought it may be a let down due to the fact they only extended to 18 holes a couple of years back now. But boy was I wrong I loved it and would go back at a drop of a hat. The greens were in very good condition early in the season and the course was well cut and manicured. A parkland course with some stunning views of the hills surrounding it. Hilly in places even for some of our older guys with trollies!! but a joy to play

what an absolute GEM of a golf course!!!!! this was the last stop of our trip and we played here on the 1/5/08. everyone in the club house is really friendly and your made to feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. we had a delicious bacon sandwich before play then hit a few balls on the well designed driving range. the first hole is long par 5 with out of bounds and water so an accurate tee shot is required. the greens were very good for it being early in the season but i cant say highly enough of how well the course was manicured. the fairways were in top condition and the tee boxes were beautifully cut! top marks to the green staff for that!!! the course is parkland and has stunning views of the hills surrounding it. we were lucky with the weather (only a few drops of rain and little wind) but the course still carries a threat with heavy rough for any way ward shots! i personaly prefered the back 9 (which i beleive is the original 9) but the front 9 is excellent also. the par 3 12th poses an interesting dilema to which club to hit (you'll have to play it to understand what i mean)!!! its honestly a fantastic course and i would really love the chance to play it again. £20 is a bargain and they even take 2 fore 1s!! play this course and enjoy the ambiance and scenery - you wont be disappointed!!!

great course, you start with the new front 9, then on to the old 9 holes making up a lovely 18 holer. can play long if you chose a windy day, greens are superb in the summer months, only one draw back is the stane dyke wall that go through the course, but these are hazards like every is. friendly new management, and great food Central radio Taxis (Edinburgh) and the Edinburgh Taxi trade hold their annual outings here 50+ wave to the pilots in there RAF jets as they scream past at 700mph.

If there is one course I really miss playing since defecting from the East coast of Scotland to the West it's this little beauty. As soon as you step out the car at Castle Park you feel chilled out and relaxed, the freindly welcome at the tidy little clubhouse and the chance to limber up with a few swings on the range put an even bigger smile on your face. The chance to hire a buggy is appreciated as their are some steep climbs. There is great wildlife and picturesque holes which also provide a decent test for most golfers. I hear they have just added 9 new holes and I cant wait to go back to try them out ... I think I'll go through this weekend! CR
