10 reviews of Catterick Golf Club

We played the course on 12 May 2011. Unfortunately we were booked in behind a seniors 4ball comp which meant the round was slow. In addition, the order for teeing off was a bit haphazard as, desipte being on the tee early, we nearly lost our spot to members out for a friendly. The first three holes of the course are not great. The rest of the course has some really beautiful and interesting holes, some of which I would really like to play again. Some were average. The course is very hilly so be prepared to work the legs. Overall, I have to say it was a good course, with some spectaular views from the top of the hills and some really fun drives from elevated tees. Good use of the hills is made and most holes will have some element of trickiness. The members we met were very welcoming and are a tribute to the club. The clubhouse is modern and well run. The grub was tasty too. Marks out of 10 - 6.5/7. I play off 24 and found the course fair but not too difficult. Better players may want a harder test.

Played on June 8th with some friends, on arrival to first tee it looked uninspiring but once the course got going it was worth the play. The back 9 certainly better than the front but I was told the front 9 had work done over the winter and this was why it had a different feel to the much better back 9 which had loads of room. A quaint little half way house/cottage on the 10th tee is handy if caught in the rain, hot and cold drinks available and a vending machine. All in all a good course that I would possibly play again in better conditions.

we played catterick on the 8th june 2010 straight after playing richmond in the morning. when we arrived we entered the well stocked pro shop before starting our round. the pro didnt seem that friendly but took our four ball voucher and pointed us in the direction of the 1st tee box. i have to say the first few holes are very bland in my opinion. the fairways hadnt been cut for a few days and the grass on the tee boxes was very long indeed. the front nine holes werent very inspiring but the back nine felt like a completely different course. i mentioned to one of my playing partners that the inward 9 felt more established and we later found out that the course was an original 6 hole course!! its a course i think i would only play once and maybe we had been spoiled a little by playing richmond in the morning, which in my opinion is a far superior golf course. if i had the option of taking a membership at either catterick or richmond, richmond would win hands down. overall rating 6 out of 10

Catterick golf course is one of the best courses at club level you will ever play. Every hole provides a real challenge, if your course mansgement is good you can score well. Perfectly grommed with exceptional greens all year round considering there are only 3 green staff they do an amazing job. The course PRO Andy is excellent and his lessons are second to none although a little pricey (You get what you pay for). The bar and food is excellent with a great menu. This course is a must. In my view for what it's worth this is the best course in Yorkshire. 'Play it if you dare'

THE most friendly course Ive ever been to! From the minute you arrive, the staff and members can not be happy enough, and always willing to help. Excellent course, which is as well looked after as any ive been to. Ball cleaners, towels and good course signage all make it a pleasurable round. The holes are all challenging and difficult, though not too hard. A good mix of uphill and downhill, short and long holes. Overall, i cant recommend this course enough. I played in winter and got a round for £10, and the conditions were superb. VISIT THIS COURSE!!

This is a MUST PLAY course! The facilities are more than adequate and the staff very friendly and helpful. Green fees are a bit pricey if your not playing with a member though for a one off - definately worth it. If your local to the area, membership is a must. Each hole has a different feel and challenge. The Par 4 11th is especially interesting as a good, STRAIGHT drive of 250 yds can reach the green and someone has holed it in one recently. I can't recommend this course enough.

Fantastic course- especially the first three. The greens are very slick for six months of the year and the club boasts 2 practice grounds and good changing room/clubhouse facilities. Excellent test of golf! Christopher Potter

My Father, Harold Ryton was the Club Steward in the Mid Sixties. Catterick is an excellent course and I hope to play it again on my next visit to England.
