Played this course on a beautiful sunny day for only EUR 22.50 with a 2-fore-1 voucher and what a bargain ! It was in superb condition, and challenging with it. The first 6 holes run close to the irish sea providing a great back drop. The course then turns in land with water hazards on the 8th and 9th. The back 9 in complete contrast provide a real test with blind tee shots, approaches to elevated greens, steeply sloping fairways and a superb long Par 3 down a steep hill. The closing 600 yrd Par 5 provides a stern test as the 18th protected in front by 2 water hazards. Great round, lovely clubhouse.
Charlesland GC is situated on the east cosast of Ireland. The course is lovely condition with very open but challenging holes. The whole course was subject to the elements for the whole 3 rounds i played, with the winds coming straight off the sea reaching gale force. However this added to the character and charm of the whole set up. Big hitters will particularly like this course although with the fairways being so wide it suits all handicaps. There are rooms available as a package deal, which are situated right on the golf course and allows for a friendly restful weekend of golf. Buggies are a must for the full enjoyment and allow some shelter from the wind. Summer golf may be less windy, as we were there in Novemeber and only have a windy experience. Great course well worth the trip to Ireland. Haydn Cawthra 08/07/03 - (Played 07-08 Nov 2002)
