I have played here a few times, having grown up in the area. I have probably played it 5 or 6 times in the last 7 or 8 years, and the course has done nothing but get better. I last played in June 2011, and the recently hired greenkeeper is doing an excellent job. The greens are in good condition, and a couple of the holes have had the tees moved a little (my favourite being the new third white), making the course more tricky here and there, but giving the holes a great shape. The front 9 is very different from the back 9, but the whole course has been carved out from forest space, so wild shooters will lose a ball or two. The clubhouse has fairly recently been refurbished (last couple of years), and the committee is constantly looking to improve facilities. You have a lovely view of the 10th tee/fairway and the 18th green/fairway, and the scenic backdrop behind from the clubhouse's elevated position. The practise area has a good amount of space, a chipping green, and I believe the sand bunker is still there - it is more of a triangular field than a driving range, so you tend to find players aiming into the corners. The practise green is just above the 18th green behind the clubhouse I may sound biased, but I have enjoyed this course a number of times, and would recommend it to any player.

I played this course recently. We recieved a very warm welcome in the pro shop and from members alike. The thing that struck me most about this course was that it just got better and better as the round went on, some great holes on the back nine.We played on a 2for1 voucher great value.

Chesterfield is a moderately hilly course, not that long but position of the tee is essential on a number of holes, making it fairly difficult. Tee's, fairway's and rough was all in good condition. The Greens still have some way to go to be back in top condition. The recovery programme that the club has in place is ongoing. On Friday when I played the green's had been spiked and sanded. Grass blade density is still on the low side, On a number of greens the ball bobbled to a stop and twice the ball bounced it's way across the green. If Chesterfield is on your list of must play's give it another 12 months. Welcome in the clubhouse and food on the day were excellent.

I am a member of Chesterfield Golf Club and have been for the past 20 years. In 2005 the greens were damaged due to problems that were beyond the green staffs control and we did start the season on temporary greens. In the middle of the season we played on all 18 greens due to a programme of repair that was followed. For anyone thinking of playing our course, I will assure you of a very good challenging round. You will now find the Chesterfield Golf Club course to be in very good condition and a warm welcome will always be found. For golfers who played our course when the greens were out of commision or damaged I can only give an apology. Please come back during the 2006 season and enjoy a round. John Davenport.

In answer to the last comments from the golfer who played our course in May, i ask you to come back now and see how much the course has improved and has got back to it's original tip top condition. Unfortunately last October, some unscrupulous individual put weed killer in the fertilyser, and because of the time of the year, the grass would not recover until later on in the year, once the ground temperature had risen. I have played some great courses in our region and over the country, in major competitions including the Ameteur golf championships, and I have to say, Chesterfield Golf Club is second to none. The layout is up with the best, it's condition now excellent, and where else has a 'halfway house' open every day of the year to serve hot drinks and food. Whether your round of golf is good or not quite in sync, you will enjoy the Golf course and it's demands. A tough course but to be enjoyed by all standards.

Played this course 12 May;10 TEMPORARY GREENS!!! Absolutely appalling. This is the 4th time i have played this course and every time it has been poor. I dont know who is looking after the greens; my guess would be someone who doesnt know what he is doing!! Will nver go back.

I am a member at Chesterfield so will admit to a little biasness. I can however say that anybody wishing to visit our club will be met with a warm welcome, a challenging game of golf and play on fantastic greens. It is true the first 6/7 holes are not that inspiring however, from hole 8 onwards you will have a fantastic round.

I was very disapointed that the course was in such poor condition. I was told it is due to the wet winter and spring. I have played this course before and it is usually in tip top condition. The first seven holes are not very inspirring, but from then on it is a very good test. The 9th is a Wentworth type hole with a tree lined fairway dog leg left uphill par 5. The 10th is great hole to start th e back nine. Hope the condition is better for you.
