A small course (longest hole is about 230yds) with pretty surroundings. Greens are small but very well maintained. They could do with a bit more land, since there are a few crossing fairways, which is always annoying. The lovely lake in the middle provides a nice enough view to distract you from the goose droppings sticking to your soles at every other step. Good value (£8 per person + £3.50 to hire a set of clubs), and pay-and-play non-members are welcome. Clubhouse closes ridiculously early -- I would have liked to stay afterwards for some victles but couldn't.

A great little course for a quick round! I'm not sure I agree totally with David's comments of it being an oversized pitch and putt. Small yes, but filled with challenges and enough to test anyone's short game. If you just want to blast your driver 300 yards each time then this may not be the course for you but if accuracy of your short irons, where many a shot can be made up, is important to your game then 9 or 18 around Clare will certainly put you to the test. For a small, parkland style course, the greens are in extremely good condition. The surroundings are idyllic, it's just a relaxed and enjoyable place for a round of golf.

Basically an over-sized pitch and putt! The surroundings were very attractive, between the lake and a river. Very small greens calling for extreme acccuracy. Some of the shots you are required to make seem unfair, ie trees in middle of fairways and you often have to manufacture shots to avoid hitting overhanging branches. Good value for money, and ideal to play if you havn't the time to play a full sized course and friendly welcoming staff and clubhouse. Only real critisism on day I played. No one had cleared up the fallen leaves (loads of them) very difficult to find ball and greens covered too!
