Had the pleasure to play this course in June 2010 with a golfing party from Gathurst Golf Club near Wigan. What a wonderful experience. Beautifully landscaped holes and some quite tight fairways( which suits my game). Some of the views over the Solway Firth are breathtaking. Would recommend anyone visiting the area to play this course. An absolute must. We'll certainly be returning. P.S. We held our presentation ceremony in the clubhouse after the round and were made to feel really welcome.

having read it as "the friendliest course in scotland" we thought we'd try it as part of our annual weekend trip. They weren't wrong. We recieved the warmest of welcomes before we'd even stepped on the tee. The course is outstanding in every way. breathtaking views (and breath removing 1st hill!). The greens were fast the holes all varied and imaginative and a fantastic challenge. A course guide was given free as well as a score card as what a bonus it was for first time visitors. Play it, you'd be mad not too.

We played Colvend as part of a weeks tour of the area by a society of nine, and it was a close run thing as to whether this was our favourite course of the five played. From the first `up the hill` the course grabs you, with tempting drives and stunning views, but there is always a sting in the tail, a brook or an out of bounds, or a sloping green. In essence we loved every minute of it, the course, the friendly staff, the cheap beer and food afterwards, and all this despite a fifteen minute hail storm that turned everything white. Take time out, fill your lungs with oxygen for the hills, and play it, you will not be disappointed.

Played Colvend while on business in the area. After a wonderful round at Southerness, complete with numerous "refreshments", I ventured over to Colvend. After seeing the challenge of the first hole "hill", I ordered more "refreshments" and off I went. Colvcend is the type of course (I am a 10 handicap) where one goes "par, bogey, bogey, double, birdie, par, bogey, bogey, double", there's that type of variety, there's that type of challenge. I had three birdies (#'s 4, 7, and 18) and only 3 pars (#'s 10, 13, and 14) for an 80 from the whites, 5220 yards, par 68. Stuck a wedge to about a foot on #18 and group on patio gave my a healthy round of applause...nice afternoon, no doubt!!

Colvend is a lovely course, with wonderful views. Although some of the holes are quite difficult (but that's the fun of the game!) it is a very enjoyable course to play. There is a lot of variety of holes and the 12th hole is definately different! The clubhouse has good facilities, with showersand changing areas, a bar, lounge and great food. It is also the only club I know to treat men and women equally. In conclusion I feel that Colvend Golf Course is the best in Dumfries and Galloway!!

Colvend was my favourite of the 4 courses we played on our trip of 1999 (the others were Gatehouse of Fleet, Kirkudbright and Lockerbie). As you enter the car park, the first fairway greets you looking awesome as it climbs up the hill, and it is indeed a bit of a climb; however, the views as you gradually make your way back down the hill are a fitting reward. The 12th is a bit of a nightmare as it zig zags its way up the side of another hill, but again the reward is waiting at the picturesque, par 3, 13th, where you play downhill to a green almost surrounded by water. A very nice course with a friendly welcome and good food.
