Played on 13/07/15...... What a great golf course, loved the layout and loved playing it in a big wind..... Greens were in great condition and all a good test of golf... Jeff the pro is welcoming and always good for a deal if buying golf gear.... Bar staff were good and nice choice of beer etc Overall can't wait to go back and play course.
Played here on 3/9/2014. Genural conditions were very good. Greens very good and a decent pace. Accuracy off the tee is a must. Rough was quite tough. I found cooden to be quite unique. It's like no other course I've played. Bar and catering and staff very good. Well worth a visit.
Fantastic, ten out of ten, a must play. The original booking with the professional shop was easy and when we arrived the professional was police, chatty and happy to supply all the information needed. As already stated the course starts and finishes as a low lying marshland course and becomes more links like around the turn. The whole course was in a great condition and the greens were running quite quickly and in fantastic condition. It can be tight in places, but playable by all, easy walking. The bar staff were friendly and polite, as were the members we spoke with.
Arranged a Society visit here last Friday (20th August) and everybody who attended (21 players) said that they loved the course and want to come back next year should I arrange a return visit. The course itself was in very good condition, tees were superb and the greens were nicely presented and of a reasonable speed. The fairways were a little parched in places but this is only to be expected bearing in mind the lack of rain we have had down here this Summer. Despite if being a great day for golf weatherwise, and fairly calm inland, the famous "Cooden Breeze" made itself known again with the lost ball count increasing as the day went on! Playing the 10th with a stiffish wind blowing left to right is almost guaranteed to see you either find the water hazard or OOB posts down the right hand side. I know all of our threeball did! Food was very good, plain and simple (how we like it) and plenty of it. The only "downer" on the day was that the pro had informed casual visitors/members that turned up that our society was running late for our afternoon round, even adding that we had said that we didn't mind teeing off a little later than our alloted 2.30 start time which was incorrect. I don't remember telling anybody that, and bearing in mind our first group were standing around the 1st tee at least 15 minutes before they were due to tee off, we found this a little annoying. We were already aware that we had to keep a decent pace up in the afternoon to get back in in time for our evening meal, and to be pushed back a further 15 minutes put undue pressure on us.
Played here Feb. 09 ( £22 on 2 fore 1 ). Pleasant course with a traditional atmosphere .Not really a links ,more of an easy walking ,low lying marshland course + you don't really see the sea. Holes weave along serenely through the rushes & have their own identity & give a nice feeling of isolation & tranquility . It's also very peaceful as there's no noise from any roads etc. Everything goes along well until the 13th after which the holes lose their individuality a bit & become less interesting . This was a well conditioned course with excellent greens & tees like snooker tables ( shame we couln't go off them & had to go off temps which was sometimes 2 markers bunged down on a bit of ropey fairway). Doesn't seem to drain that well as course was quite wet in places compared to others we'd played on previous days. Very welcoming club. Worth playing once & decent value value on the 2 fore 1 but the standard £42 green fee is a bit much for what you get . Kevin B.
Cooden is a very tradional club with a very good herbert fowler design to back it up. Got a little frosty reception as a visitor but all in all the course was great. The first 9 especially going through the trees and the marshland was brilliant. The wind really makes the course and is grat fun as it is always different. Also recommended in the winter as they create temp tees by cutting the grass which are alot better than those astro mats. Drains quite well and the greens are always true.
This is a magnificent course. I played it two weeks ago and I am still thinking about it.
Super course in cracking condition. Nice clubouse & friendly staff. Play it!!
