10 reviews of Croham Hurst Golf Club

I played Croham Hurst on Friday as part of the Surrey Amateur. While my own golf didn't quite come up to scratch the course was in excellent condition. The greens in particular were superb, in places they were very fast and there is plenty of opportunity to three putt if you found yourself in the wrong part of the green. The members were very accommodating with us taking up their course for the day with many out ball spotting and spectating which was very much appreciated. Excellent lunch prior to afternoon round as well!

Croham Hurst is a great golf course and my husband and I had the pleasure of playing it recently. the layout was enjoyable and the greens were really fast and slick...they were good to putt on but you had to mke sure you werent above the hole as downhill putts cost us a few shots! If you live close by or are on a golf tour then Croham Hurst is well worth a visit.

I have to say that this is one of the best courses in Surrey.... every time I play it it is in fantastic condition and the greens are superb, fast and not easy as there is hardley a straight putt all round. The first two holes are long and challenging and then three holes that look easy but the greens can rob you of a shot! If you live in or near South London it is so easy to get to and the green fee is reasonable. The clubhouse is a little old but the food and drink is really good. Try it!

If you can find it, this is actually a nice course! What is it about these clubs who don't like signposts telling you where they are - the "We don't need to advertise" mentality? Do they realise that it doesn't create a great impression to visitors trying to find the place for hours on end? Anyway....rant over! This is a pleasant parkland course with excellent greens. First few holes in particular are very tough, and it certainly isn't a flat course by any means. The clubhouse is old fashioned in appearance with wooden panelling, but still very smart. There is plent of seating outside, as well as an undercover veranda area where you can sit, with your spikes on, indoors, but with an airy breeze flowing through. This area of the clubhouse overlooks the 1st tee and 10th green. Food was also very nice here and there is a good selection behind the bar for thirst golfers. Considering we were so close to central London, the prices were very reasonable.

Played here in the middle of March 2007 in a nice spring day. The course was very pleasent but take a slightly different view about holes 3,4 and 5. They don't seem to be in keeping with the rest of the course, ie two very short par 4's in a row, with a short par 3 to follow. Otherwise the course is well laid out. I enjoyed the par 5 8th and the par 5 10th. The best hole for me was the 200 yard, down the hill par 3, looks great. The greens were a bit of a let down as they had been recently spiked, but you can't have everything at this time of year. Overall the course is reasonable. One point, the putting green has some very difficult slopes on it! A real test before you go and play your round.

Played here December 06 Pleasant established parkland course. The design reminded me of Woodcote Park .It has good hole design & bunkering. Early on there are 3 linksy holes (2 short par 4's & a short par 3)which are in a in a separate area to the main course that might have detracted but they are designed in such a way that makes them enjoyable to play. The 6th could be a bog standard straightish par 5 but subtle mounding & bunkering enhance the hole. Nice greens that ran true. The traditional clubhouse has a cosy feel like you're in someone's (admittedly large )house. I would play here again & this is a course worth playing. Kevin B.

Pleasant undulating course, always in good condition. The 15th is a slog but the rest of the holes are fair and of reasonable length. Best holes are the long doglegging eighth and the short eleventh. The approach shots to some of the par fours can prove deceptive - make sure you take enough club.

Hidden away in South London suburbia, this is a very good course, with friendly members and staff. Everything is in great condition with a special note to the quality of greens which are superb. Tree-lined fairways and very well placed bunkers make driving difficult, whilst greens have subtle contours to test your putting. The one criticism is that many of the holes feel the same - whilst sipping your pint in the clubhouse, not many memorable holes spring to mind (the 205yd par 3 16th probably being the pick). At £40 for a midweek round, this was a slight disappointment but overall the quality made up for it.

Having been a member of Croham Hurst for several years, and now currently Junior Captain I feel that I am qualified to pay testament to the all round brilliance of the golfing complex that is Croham Hurst. From the very outset you can tell Croham is a classy establishment with excellent facilities and two opening holes that are worthy of any championship course. The rest of the course does not fail to disappoint with a great variety of holes all constructed within a fine layout. In my eyes with its beautiful parkland setting and superb condition, Croham Hurst is certainly one of, if not the finest golf course in Surrey.

I played 36 holes in a society day and enjoyed the course and clubhouse. The club seem to have a large and active membership, but the course was not crowded. Starts off with two challlenging holes, then eases up a bit. I would like to play it again. The Catering was also good.
