this has got to be one of the best courses i have played in the north of england.the course is in fantastic condition and the scenery is amazing. holes 3 and 7 stand out for the fact your tee shot sails over a former quarry which if your ball lands there your in serious trouble. the lay out of the course means you always seem to be going up hill but its all worth it. some of the holes leave you with a blind second shot which for high handicapers can cause problems if your shot happens to go off target you can quite easliy lose your ball and take a high score. the price for the quality of course is excellent, only £14,its well worth having a round.

played this coures on 4/8/2003 excellent. a warm friendly welcome, billy the warden who looked after us a big thank you, this is a great golf course very challenging with some very good greens, and the view of the area around is stunning. well worth the drive from Cambridge.

Had the pleasure to play this course on 7/7/2003. Had a great day. The course is very pictureseque, but also very challenging. The greens are without doubt the best but also fastest I have ever played. There are some very testing holes the 12th & 13th spring to mind. We were warmly welcomed by both members of the club and also the staff. Well worth a visit, if it were a bit closer to home would have considered joining as member.

A testing course in excellent condition, especially the greens. A range of interesting holes and approaches. Sloping 18th green a tester, particularly with the viewing gallery from the clubhouse bar. An enjoyable day out and very good value for money. (Played 5 June 2002)

An excellent test of golf. The course follows the contours of the ex-coalmining area providing the widest variety of stances from which to play your shots. The most testing hole on the course, the 12th, known locally as the copse demands the most accurate of drives towards a narrowing funnel of a fairway, with problems of out of bounds to the left and woodland to the right. The new clubhouse extensions offer snooker, good value meals and a perfect view over the 18th green. First-class.
