Played my first ever proper 9 hole at crowlands and really enjoyed it. Ok hitting a 55 on a par 33 isnt fantastic but it gave me a great feel of what i can expect from golf. The grees where tricky and the rough difficult which i would hope for as it would be quite boring if everything was easy. The driving range is fantastic and have been going twice a week for the past month. Looking forward to having a full 18 hole in the next few weeks
I recently visited Crowlands on a Groupon deal for £15 which included 18 holes for two people, a fry up each, and a bucket of balls on the driving range. I am glad my mate invited me on this offer as we really enjoyed our visit. Don't be put off by the scruffy car park on first appearance. The clubhouse has a nice bar, and the fry up and service was good. However the club house could do with a bit of a better selection of supplies for when you are on the course. The driving range is over a lake which uses floating balls which seems strange watching your balls skim the surface. Plenty of bays, but my only gripe here is that there were no tees on most of the mats. Surely a case for the auto tee system like most of the ranges nearby have now. Next to the club house there is a practice green and short play chipping area, both really maintained well and a credit to the club. The course is nine holes with two sets of tees, and is an inland links style. Like most nine holes courses you experience some traffic when you are playing eighteen holes as you get held up by new players coming on after your front nine. The course itself has some of the best tees and undulating greens in the area I have played off of. Some of the fairways are a bit tight together, but like a true links style course punishes you with the long grass if you are not accurate. Not much in the way of water, but the layout of the fairways are a reasonable test for beginner and regular players alike as there is nothing like this in immediate area. My favourite holes were the 1st and 7th. Each hole has a sign showing its approach and layout, which look like a very new addition. My only gripe here is the lack of yardage markers, directions to the next holes (only sign posted on two and not very well), and the lack of bins and ball cleaners but my guess here is that they may have suffered with vandalism in the past. A map on the back of the score card could have helped here. If you want a quick game of nine holes, and some quality practice time this course is worth a visit. I plan on taking some other friends back very soon to see if they are up to the challenge!
Good course, a few defects tho, first time playing it today was always looking at the map as tees and holes were not numbered so got lost a few times, and whats going on with the walk from the 4th to the 5th had to cross paths with people coming down the 7th, and as you finsh on the 9th they should put a bus stop back to the club house as its a long walk and a very dodgy walking route back, but will play this course again very easy par 33
a great little course for all players. drove right the way across london to play this little gem, and will do so again. this is a well maintained course all year round, it allso has a great driving range, and nice bar area..... dave mann, who gave a bad report must go and get his head testd.
After playing Risebridge last week I had seriously considered giving up winter golf. Luckily Crowlands has shown me that a course can still be great in the winter. Undulating Fairways and Greens, well laid out and in great condition for the time of year. The course is on a small bit of land so is short and a little bit cramped, but it is well designed and a good test (especially when the rough is grown in the summer). I would recommend this to anyone wanting a quick 9 holes on a quality course. Honestly cant understand the critical comments below.
What a fantastic inland links golf course. I've played at the top level of amateur golf and found this would compare with any course I've ever played. Loved the Aqua Driving Range and the new USGA Spec Short Game Area was amazing quality - best greens I've ever played on. I don't understand The poor rating by Dave Mann - he must have played a different golf course!!!!!
this course is in good nic for this time of year,i will be defenity be playin this again,i am so impressed with it i may think about joinin.peter lockwood
Quality 9-hole course with fast greens in summer. Par 4 4th (428yd from White tees), Par 3 5th (214yd from White tees) & Par 5 9th (537 from White tees) are challenging to a Handicapper of any ability and the rough is quite testing at times. If you want to play a nice little testing course for a fair price I urge you to book a tee time at Crowlands Heath!
superb little course, well situated in Dagenham.. Lovely wide fairways and lightning fast greens, the par 5 9/18 is great and a real challenge. The course is quite reasonable in terms of price and thankfully no chavs turn up looking to play which is an added bonus..well recommended.
Great little course in the middle of Dagenham. Members will make you feel very welcome .Its one course you should try especially on a windy day !! looks easy but ?. Links type greeens will keep you on your toes from start to finish. If you catch me in the bar I'll buy you a drink . From the Crowlands club captain Arthur Enjoy your round.
good course for area wonderfull farways .and the green, are fast and like snooker tables good price for a good course in dagenham essex i will play it all time now as it is close to were i live .keep it up green keeper rob hough england 10/6/04
For an area that has a number of golf courses this fearly new 9 hole course stands out for me. The fairways are like greens and the greens like snooker tables. With the green keeper allways out on the course it is very well looked after. Something to note is that the club only allow soft spiked shoes. Although in a small area it is very well planed out. There is a very decent par 5 for the 9/18 hole. Look out for the water on the 6th ! ( Good midweek offer of £12 for 18 holes)
