Our twenty strong society played all four of the nines here last Saturday and had a very good and enjoyable experience. On check in at Reception, the lady who greeted us immediately confirmed our booking and explained we would be playing the Red course immediately followed by the Orange. The former is a parkland nine, one of the original courses and the latter is linksish and the latest addition. Both courses were nicely presented and the starter offered us a choice of playing either the white or yellow tees. Being of long experience in these options and noting that the wind was pretty strong we opted for the yellows and were interested to note that some of the white tees really would have made it very difficult indeed! We enjoyed both courses which are challenging but quite forgiving to the offline shot. Pre ordered sandwiches and chips were provided speedily at lunchtime and we set off again to play the blue and yellow combination in the afternoon after about a 30 minute break. The blue course has plenty of water hazards in particular the 8th, a nominal 172 yards, played over a lake which took a well struck 5 wood to get over in the wind which had by then greatly strengthened. We then moved to the yellow course which is heavily wooded and the other one of the originals. It is very well presented but has a number of holes where you need to hit a shot to a corner or just before a pond, before taking another shot to the green. One of these courses where a second round should mean a much better score because you would much better know what you were supposed to be doing. This is however not a criticism, the overall enjoyment factor of the day was very high and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the complex to another Society organiser who wanted to have two rounds for twenty guys on a Saturday. One final comment, the manager of the complex sought me out as we were enjoying a well earned pint in the bar and enquired as to what our group, single figure to 18 handicappers, had thought of the day. I responded very positively quite genuinely and was impressed by the follow up.
i played this course (red and blue holes)on wednes 7/2/07 i really enjoyed this course even though it was soggy underfoot in some places.its was challenging, i would definitely reccomend this course to anyone in the bradford-on-avon area.
Yes it is a tough demanding but fair new course with fantastic facilities. The greens are undoubtedly excellent. The course is still very new and the course seems to lack atmosphere; unfortunately some the fairways are getting a bit rough in this dry summer. Overall a good course but lacks the style and maturity of older courses like Bowood. (I scored 31 points and didn't lose a ball which means the water holes are not too difficult).
Just had a society day here and the whole event was marvellous from our reception to the final meal. The course was wonderful and the greens were in excellant condition. A great day out.
A fantasic course! My personal favourite. The best golf course for miles around the Bath area. I recomend it to everyone, and the lessons are also very helpfull to all skill levels.
A gem, no more need be said, go, go back, and keep going back, this is better than Bowood in Wiltshire, 10/10, one of my personal favourites.
