we played the course on a bank holiday sunday in the late afternoon and was surprised to see the car park rather empty, the green fees are very good, especially in the twilight hours, the weather was very sunny so no excuses,we found the course in very good condition for a council run municipal, the fairways were good and also the greens in top condition, the front 9 is rather challenging with some narrow tree lined drives, the back 9 a bit easier with 3 par 3,s.I really enjoyed it and will be coming back very shortly.
Played today. For a Council run course I thought it was really good. Challenging enough and very well kept throughout. Green were good and ran true and I had an enjoyable, frustrating as ever, round. Well recommended for mid grade players.
Played it for the first time yesterday. Overall, the course is in pretty good nick, and the greens especially were true despite thunderstorms over night. Although quite short it is a real thinkers course, you can't just blast it off the tee as lots of trees. Can't comment on the bunkers as didn't find one, however they looked fine. If the off course facilities were improved could be a great day out.
Challenge: 6/10 Number of interesting doglegs and hazards well placed to catch errant shots. Long hitters might want more distance overall but the doglegs etc would make it a test even for them I think. VFM: 9/10 Played off peak for £6.50 Facilities: 4/10 Locker rooms basic. Enjoyable afternoon. Greens very good. Bunkers (only played out of one) OK but presentation could be tidied. Fairways mostly in very good order but some bare patches near greens. Tees a little uneven in some cases. Not a course I'd drive miles to play but worth a visit if close by.
derby golf club is definately one of the best clubs i have ever played. I am a member of the belfry (wishaw) In 2oo2 the belfry hosted the ryder cup, which i was very pleased to watch. I believe with good greenkeeping and slight development derby golf club could easily host such an event. The greens were so true that for the first time i actually enjoyed putting.thankyou derby for all the wonderful memories. Will be visiting again!!!!!!!!!
i agree with Mr Carter, the course is not a nice course esp hole 12, not because i tribled bougied 4 weeks on the trot its because ferrets tunnel under the green and make it an uneven suface. I also think golf is one of the frustrating sports ever including the sport of the triathlon. however golf is very relaxing and the course at sinfin helps me to unwind and relieve anger caused by a hard day ot the office. thanks
I can only assume Mr Carter played this course in a blizzard whilst wearing a blindfold. I played the Sinfin for the 1st time last week in an open competition. The course was in excellent condition. This is a demanding, mature layout with many doglegs requiring length and accuracy. Greens are slow but true. The only quibble is the condition of the bunkers which appear to have a concrete floor with 1/2 inch of sand scattered on top!
the sinfin course is very poor in every way. i have no more comment about this course it really is poor
