Dinsdale Spa Golf Club

we played dinsdale on a cold, over cast day on wednesday 16th october and although the weather wasnt great it didnt detract from the course. it was a little bit of a nightmare getting to the location taking into account local diversions etc but still worth the 110 mile round trip. we played the course for the winter special of £15pp and its great value, especially so as the course was in fantastic condition for the time of year and the greens were a real pleasure to play on. there was a little bit of a hiccup with our bacon sandwich as there wasnt any catering on until 11 but the young female pro was kind enough to drive out to us on the course and drop them off. great customer service and a nice touch i thought! the course itself is pretty wide open and i can imagine in the summer months its a course you could score really low on! i didnt play that well on the day and my front nine killed me really but still ended up shooting an 83. i was only 2 over on the back nine which we were told is the hardest part of the course. my favourite holes would probably be the par 3 7th (a lovely little hole played down hill to a receptive green) or the par 5 15th. its not a long course by any stretch of the imagination but some of the greens are quite small and well protected and you get the impression that there will be some subtle breaks on them, especially when they are running really quickly in the summer! i wouldnt have any hesitation in playing the course again in the future and i will certainly be keeping my eyes peeled for any open events in 2014! friendly members, accomodating staff and golf course that is quite simply a lot of fun to play and wont overly punish a wayward shot. keep it in the short stuff and your almost guaranteed to shoot low! overall rating 7 out of 10

Cracking course, played 16 Oct 2013. Bit of a pain to find but once there a beauty even in "the winter" cannot wait to play this again in the Summer, every hole a joy to play. And at £15 for golf, bacon Sandwiches and coffee what more do you want.
