1 review of Doral Golf Resort and Spa
While this was my first visit to a PGA venue, I am not sure that it deserves quite as much of the hype as it gets / gives itself. Playing off the white tees (6200+ yards) the course represented a fair, but not overly difficult challenge. Off the back tees and with the rough grown up it would be much more difficult than on my visit. The problem I found with the course that there were not very many memorable holes, probably due to the flat and monotonous terrain. The par 3s were a reasonable challenge, with the front 9 being well guarded with water. The par 5s were also a reasonable challenge with clever bunkering to catch drives and approaches. And of course the 18th is a great closing hole. If they shaved the run off towards the lake a lot of balls would end up wet. Bring your A game though, and the course is there for the taming. I got a twiligh sumemr rate of $135 and just got in before dark, although as with golf in teh USA in general, it was way too slow.
