Turned up here to play a match as a neutral venue was required,, everyone in the club house nice and friendly . It's a pitch and putt course at best,, only two holes allow for driver and the rest you need a tin hat has the balls are flying all over the place as this is 9 holes squashed into,a very small plot of land.. Although in good nick the greens are not easy, a 3ft putt can turn into a 25ft putt back up the hill so ball placement is key. That's where the good ended and the bad began,, some and not all the members on the course are the reason some many young people stay away,, a man who should not be on a course hitting the ball 10 ft per shot and would not allow anyone through,, about 80 years old and a four ball who were awful to say the least acting as though they were in the Ryder cup and again no one shall pass.
Accidentally played the course becuase we didn't realise it's a very short 9 hole course with some double tees. To be honest, although the greens are reasonable, we didn't bother playing the second 18 as it wasn't that great a course unless you're a relative beginner. The £12 we paid seemed ok, but then seemed expensive compared with the mere £15 we paid to play Ruspers in the afternoon, which was fabulous.
Totally unforgettable experience; I can remember every hole clearly. The card suggests this is a short holiday course but after the first hole it is seriously challenging with some hard to get at greens and three uphill climbs. While we paid for 18 holes, we were glad to get off after 9 as it was a physically tiring and stressful course to play.
I played today for £13 twilight rate for as much golf as you wish. Though a 9 hole course which struggles to fit into the available land well worth a visit and a hole by hole description foolows. 1st: sharply downhill par 4 and can be driven. 2nd: good dog-leg the raised green requiring a well struck second. 3rd: the longest hole (446 yds)requires an acuurate and long drive to bring the green in range. 4th: tee shot over a pond playing longer than its 141 yds. 5th: a short dogleg, rewards a sensible tee shot 6th: with a sloping green needs a tee shot aimed right of the target 7th: challenging 2nd to raised & well protected green. 8th: is over 200 yds and plays its full length. 9th: needs a good drive before an uphill 2nd to a double decker green. Unless you get a flat stance this is a very difficult hole. Fairways and greens in good condition and the hilly terrain gives the course its character. Good matchplay course. There was a suggestion from a memeber that the hole yardages are to the front of the greens which may explain my impressions about the length of most holes. Short but fun. 3f
Very challenging course that proved excellent value for money
Very Nice course looks easy on the card, but you will have to be VERY straight when driving. The green are very very good, fast & sloping.Worth a visit.
