Played it off the white tees in pouring rain, and still managed to shoot one under my handicap of 11. That tells you it's not too difficult a course: very open, with few surprises. In good condition, but this isn't one we'll be rushing back to.
Played here February 09 ( £25 with a county card ). Nice feel to this good downland course .The Harry Colt design gives it a touch of class with great bunkering & linksy humps & hollows around the greens + springy fairways.. Although it's tree lined in places it doesn't feel restrictive off the tee ( you can use driver on all holes )& there is a nice feeling of space .Greens are very cleverly protected meaning you have to be more accurate than usual. I didn't dislike any hole but thought the course really got going at the 6th.Holes 15 & 17 are great dropdown driving holes. The other thing i liked about this course was that the bunkering made you think about course strategy more than you normally would.(on the par 5 downhill 17th you have to thread your drive left of centre & then decide if you can carry the cross bunkers about 50 yards short of the green). Greens were o.k but i've seen better this winter & i found them a bit tricky to read. Also off fairway you sometimes had a slightly bare lie. Impressive clubhouse with a nice feel inside. There's an air of quality here & i enjoyed playing it & would thus recommend. Kevin B.
Played this course on 6 July 07. It was in excellent condition and provided a good challenge for myself and my brother (both single figure handicaps), but also a manageable and enjoyable course for my father off 22. Welcoming pro and starter and good food in a beautiful clubhouse. 45 pounds visitor fee reprresents good value for a course of this quality in the Surrey area.
I visited the course with my Son 20/10/02 and despite several days of heavy rain there was not a problem with standing water. We found both the Pro and members friendly and helpful. The course was in excellent condition and whilst of average length, there are plenty of bunkers and trees for wayward shots with the fairways of reasonable width, sensible length rough and testing greens. A very scenic course with the sense that it is never busy because of the tree lined fairways. We enjoyed every minute and feel that at £27.50 each was worth every penny.
