Arriving at Stansted, with a few hours wait for my fellow son to arrive, I stood on the first tee in less than an hour from touchdown. I was pleased by a well-maintained little course that hides the missing second nine holes behind 7 new tees, quite different sometimes. While you face a ditch in drive length on the dogleg Par 4 1st(discover that it's dry when you're there), you head forward for the 10th tee past the ditch and are confronted with a long Par 3 to the same green. Try to drive the 3rd green if you know the terrain but be reluctant to reach the three bunkers in drive-length at the 12th, 60 yds longer. Enjoy the 7th with its shortish 133 yard tee shot over the lake and reed but don't be intimidated when the 16 is a daunting 175 yards long! Plus, be sure to negotiate the hazard on the 4th/13th correctly before showing undue ambition! The fairways are faultless, the greens in very good condition. You'd never expect to get away with 18 GBP here... The welcome was very friendly, the bar is cosy - just faultless!

Course has improved remarkably this summer season. Played there last week and found fairways and greens were playing better than ever. Try driving the third blind (295 yds dog-leg right to left) over the hill, minding out for the bunkers in front of the green. New head greenkeeper started in April and has made a big difference. Thoroughly recommend a visit whether first time golfer or experienced player looking for a change of scenery. Staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming. Good changing facilities and shop.

This course was open when all my local ones were losed due to flooding. Its a great little course for short hitters and long hitters alike. Drive the ditch at the first to be in with a chance ! Give this course a go if you can and you will be pleasantly surprised. The greens aren't brilliant but its good fun and the staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. The food is well priced and all in all me and a few others had a good day here when it looked like we weren't going to get a round in at all.
