1 review of Flamingos Golf Club
20 of us played Flamingos for the first time on our Annual trip in March. The previous day had seen heavy rain in the area, which had affected the course in such a way that the bunkers were full of water and out of play, and fairways were very wet in places - not a major issue though. Thankfully we played in good weather. The clubhouse is very plush and a good welcome was received, and the 19th hole, whilst a tad on the expensive side, was very friendly and informally relaxed. The course itself is a good layout, though a little tight in places, with some fabulous looking holes. Greens were decent enough and ran true, and the general course presentation was good considering the previous days weather. There is no doubt that you NEED a buggy at this course. Most of us made the mistake of walking it and some of the climbs, both from greens to tees, and on some holes are absolutely back breaking. Despite their expense at 45 euros, a buggy would be worth every cent. We have a range of handicaps amongst those on the trip, ranging from low single figures to high twenties. With that in mind, as the organiser I try and find courses that are fair to all, and I'm not too sure this ticked the boxes if I'm honest. Lots of water and some very tight holes meant some were out of holes in no time at all, thus clearly affecting their enjoyment. That said, it's undoubtedly a nicely presented and laid out course, and provided you go knowing what to expect, I think it's a course worth playing at least once.
