I think it's only fair that I review the course again as I only gave 2 out of 5 on 7/9/14.Thought the course was in very good condition for the time of year. All greens were in play and in summertime condition which is nice to see as some clubs over protect. There was only 1 winter tee, the fairways were in decent nick and to top it the steward was a cheerful chap!
Super little course with outstanding and well maintained greens throughout. Lots of good holes but some highlights would be the 6th - a lovely little par 3 over water and the 18th - good test with the driver to a narrow fairway protected by heavy rough and Out of Bounds. The whole complex is first class with a superb Driving range, seperate short game area, putting green and driving nets in fantastic condition. Members very friendly and a nice pint in the bar afterwards. Astonishing value online - £9.00pp for a weekend mid-day tee-time - a saving of £25.00 each!!!!! We travel quite regularly from Wakefield to play and at these online prices, we will continue to do so.
Great course tricky driving holes especially hole.8 as theres trees leaning over and big bushes and trees just of the fairway also a tricky green. Nice course good price and a great hole 19.
Nice little course just outside York and another worth playing, particularly on 241. Some short holes off the yellows which overall appears to make the course a little short but there are some good par 5s and decent par 3s which push it tyo over 6100 of the yellos. Whilst it is quite open and flat it appears to be well looked after and if you are looking for a couple of good vfm course to play whilst in the area this coupled with Pike Hills during the week foot the bill. Better challenges come at Fulford, York and Easingwold but also attract a higher green fee.
we took a party of 8 in june 2005 they were doing a bit of drainage work apart from that it was in excellant nick some quite tricky driving holes with trees coming in to play dont be suckered into trying to drive the first if it is your first time water lies ahead the clubhouse was very friendly food was good shall return
Played April 2005, everything about this course from the moment you arrive is outstanding, there are some relative easy holes but most are very challenging, especially into a head wind. This is a must for anyone staying in York on a short break, we paid £20 on a Tuesday wich is extremley excellent value, only thing I can't comment on was the clubhouse because had to leave straight after the game.
