Ghyll Golf Club

Ghyll is a testing 9 hole course very close to the town of Skipton. Having looked at the other courses in the area I was bowled over by the quality of the fairways at Ghyll, they are on par with championship courses they are that good. As for the course, it's perched on the side of the hill, hence making some very tricky holes where you will be guaranteed a lie that's a foot above or below your feet. With a couple of very long par 3's you'll struggle to play to your handicap. As for the amenities, the club house is welcoming but not particularly set up for visiting golfers. There's no receptionist, you have to place your green fee in an envelope and post it into a mailbox! Be aware there's no Switch/maestro facility at the bar so bring cash. It's a little expensive at £20 but that is a day pass as they don't offer per round.
