2 reviews of Golf du Medoc Hotel and Spa
found this one of the most disapopinting courses i have ever played. travelled 2 hours from the Dordogne to play a very average couse in mediocre condition. In general i think French course are always excellent value for money and extremely well kept but this was the exception to the rule
Two excellent courses, Les Chateaux and Les Vignes. Les Chateuax is the better of the two, but not by much. Probably has some more visually stimulating holes and is at the mercy of the wind too, so a stiffer test all round. Played Les Vignes recently (October) and it slightly puts you in mind of the New at Sunningdale, playing over heathland and through tall pines although the terrain is flat as a pancake. Nevertheless it is a very fair test of golf and if you are off line, you will be dead in the gorse or water (on a few holes). Do try and eat there as the wine list is (unsurprisingly) excellent and astonishing value if you are used to London restaurant prices. A hotel is being built on site and it should become a popular base for short break golf holidays. Well worth a trip and easy to get to from the UK (20 mins from Bordeaux airport). Ratings below are for Les Vignes.
