I went with a party of 9 last year, handicap ranges 10-28. All three courses at La Baule (including a challenging 9 hole one that is a great warm up)were in great condition. Both 18 hole courses were a good mixture of tight and open fairways allowing higher handicappers the chance to make mistakes without being too heavily punished. To go through each hole wouldnt do it justice, you have to go and see for yourself. The course planner came in very handy and well worth having on a couple of blind holes. Lots of water, wooded areas but mostly fantastic scenery. Stayed at the hotel on the course which was ideal.
This course is superb the first 4 holes set amongst trees make for some accurate driving then the course moves out to some open parkland around some beautiful houses The par 5 11th hole being one of the longests I have encoutered, not a chance of getting to the green in two the 12th is a tough par 3 with only the tee and the green not being sand. A return to tree lined fairways after the 13th gives some wonderful views over the lake to the thatched clubhouse. The 17th is a long par 3 with all the carry over the lake the faint hearted can bail out to the right but whats the point in such a wonderful setting.
