best course i have played fantastic greens fairways are like carpet would recommend this course to everyone
Played Torrequebrada for the second year running, and it's fair to say we were generally impressed with what we found. I can't think of anything really to say about the course - well presented, greens ran true and receptive, tee beds evenly cut, bunkers consistent. Clair really looks after visitors to the Club, and we can't really praise her enough. A warm welcome is guaranteed, and you will be well looked after before and after the round. It's a little dearer than some on the coast, but I think this is one of those courses where you get what you pay for.
What a gem. Hidden tightly in the Costa del Sol sprawl, just up from the sea, in most places on this course, you think you're in paradise. Not cheap, but extremely high quality. Big elevation changes on nearly all holes. The course is challenging with some great dog legs. Long and (very) short par 3's and fairways and greens of the best quality. A thinkers course that will require your best to score well. The clubhouse is lovely and save some time for a bite and a drink on the terrace overlooking the fabulous 18th. I loved it.
Played Torrequebrada for the first time early March on our annual trip to the Costa. The previous 2 days had seen heavy rain, with several courses on the strip closed. We were pleasantly suprised to see this course had held up well to the bad weather, with the exception of bunkers which we agreed were out of play, with only isolated signs of the downpours that had been seen during the week on the odd fairway. Undulating greens were true and ran at a reasonable pace. Fairways and tee beds were well maintained, though tee beds were cut a little higher than normal, presumably as a result of conditions. The course itself is a mature parkland track, laid out really well with good use of natural surroundings. Reminded me in a few ways of Rio Real, just a little hillier. Water is brought in to play naturally on several holes, but good course management should see these negotiated without much problem. Some really good driving holes, some terrific thinking holes, and a couple of really good risk reward holes. Not an overly long course even with little run, and I came off having played just about every club in the bag, alaways a good gauge of a decent track in my opinion. We got a warm welcome on arrival and got the same reception in the bar after our round. Nice Clubhouse facilities, with plenty of photos of Seve around the place playing the course a nice touch. Several quality holes on this course, with 7 probably the signature. That said, 8, 10, 11, 14 and 18 were terrific holes, with the stroke index 1 16th my persoanl favourite - terrific. In terms of cost, it is a little pricier than most surrounding courses, but it's all relative. If you look at the likes of Calanova, Cabopino or Los Arqueros for example, in my opinion you'll find cheap golf on poor courses. Probably double the fee gets you 10 times the course at Torrequebrada, and as such we'll definitely return in the future.
Played this in June 2009 as part of a society and was in very good condition, tees, fairways and greens all excellent. Some of our group found it a little difficult. Course was virtual empty apart from our group and never saw anyone until we were playng the 16th. Everyone was welcoming, including guy who unloaded all our golf gear from the coach and brought them to the buggy area. A little pricier than other courses in the area but worth it if you can get some kind of discount.
I and a group of friends have been playing golf in Spain for ten years now and Torrequebrada has always been "up there " as one of our favourites along with Rio Real and Santana. However, at 120 euros a round with buggy we feel they are just taking the "mick". The prices they charge compare with St Andrews and Carnoustie and whilst a good test of golf, Torrequebrada does not stand comparison with great championship courses.
Played at Torrequebrada June 8th 2009. The staff, the course, everything was great! It was in really good condition(compared to La Cala) the tees, fairways and greens all well looked after as were our group by Clare who sorted everything out from our arrival to our departure. We will be back next year, maybe even for 2 rounds as we have yet to find a better all-round facility in the area.
John.10/5/08 Pobably the best course I have played in 6 years of golfing in spain, ex condition and would definatey recommend. We paid about 65 pounds so a little dearer than others but worth it.
Just back from 4 rounds on the Costa del Sol, with what was supposed to be the grand finale at Torrequebrada. Whilst the course is well designed, the greens apart, it was in appalling condition, tee boxes without a blade of grass on in some places, missing divots all over the place and drainage work that will never bed in. A huge disappointment for the 90 euros we paid and not a patch on Santana and La Cala that we played the previous two days.
Have played this course a number of times over the past 10 years and have seen the best & worst of this course. This year it's beginning to come back to it's best. There is no doubt that this a wonderful course on which to spend 41/2 to 5 hours. The layout is superb and is a fair test of golf. The greens are on the slow side and they have recently dressed 2 greens and a fairway. However the marshalls are friendly and helpful and tend to leave you alone if you keep up with play. Would recommend anybody or group to play this course but it's worth checking on the condition before you go.
This was a realy nice course to play, but the greens were not fast and some areas were tatty. But saying that we enjoyed it as it has some spectacular holes and it rewards good shots. The club house is friendly with great food!
Played this course on Thursday, after living not to far from the course i had never played due to the prices which are the highest on the coast. Started on the 1st after paying 91 euros. get to the green and find that it is a temp. Not told about this at any stage!!! Without question the course is lovely and the 18 is just amazing. The design is superb with not two holes the same but unfortunately probably due to the time of year it was in awful condition. Greens were terrible and the fairways were in desperate need of water. Shall not play this again as the value for money is not in the same league as some others(Santana/Montemayor/Rio Real etc)
Played the beast in 04 and 05 and each time whilst some work was ongoing the course was in above average condition. Fastest greens I`ve ever putted on and also very responsive to my shots in. Hardly saw any marshalls and when we did he was very helpful, even told us which iron to use on the 7th tee. All in all a smashing course, going back this year and maybe shoot better than 89 off 16.
Played this course last October (2004) and it was in excellent condition. I am a bit of a duffer, hwever I still enjoyed it very much. Plenty of challenging holes and good water hazards. Facilities also very good.
Played this course last year and thought it was superb. Not a great golfer but still found it enjoyable, even though the back nine was really tough. It really can be enjoyed by any level of golfer but probably better to play Stableford or Matchplay. Wee bit pricey but worth the extra few quid when your away on your hols.
Fantastic course. Played March 04 and pleased to say it is in very good condition. New course manager and many other new faces. The course is now back in the condition you would expect from a Championship course. Every hole is a wonderful test and different. Not too hilly, so no need for buggy, well in March anyway!
HAve played this course a number of times over the past few years and would agree that the condition does fluctuate a lot. Have just returned and found it to be almost back to it's best. We were unlucky to follow a greenkeeper for 3 holes who was completing the final dressing of the season (they have had a deluge of rain during April which has put the work back a month). Other than that there seems to be no major work which would disrupt golfers about to go there. The message seems to have finally got through to the marshalls as well - didn't see one. However do expect to take circa 5 hours.
Alsolutely wonderfully laid out, The 16th is an absolute gem. Unfortunately, though, having played it in Sept 02, it was in pretty bad shape. The greens were pole-forked and heavily sanded. When I say heavily sanded, I really do mean it. There were also temporary greens in operation and the 3rd was closed all together. Having said that though, they did offer a 50% reduction. Alot has been made of the rudeness of the people, and I went there expecting the worst. I actually found them very pleasant. There were certainly no marshalls on the couse pushing people along, but that could have been because of the poor state the course was in. Anyway, definately worth a look but wait until its in better condition and that means October 02 at the earliest.
Have played this course for the past 5 years. Always found it to be in excellent condition. The staff are however a completely different matter as they are invariably rude and continually pushing you to "hurry up". They are visible only on the front 9 and as a result the back 9 logjams. All in all it is a course worth playing but be prepared to spend a long time getting round.
Totally unenjoyable course. Too many people grammed onto the course, resulting in the round taking 5 1/2 hrs. No course planners, 100 and 150 meter markers were inconsistent and the marshalls and receptionist were ignorant. Fairways were bare and the greens were appalling. Played many courses abroad and this must ranked the worse.
Played the course late August 2001 Excellent course and greens with fabulous views but a little pricey considering Mijas Golf and other courses not too far away were offering reduced fees and other offers i.e 2 players and buggy for the same price as my green fee of 12000 pts although during the hottest part of the day!!. Very hot and hilly so a buggy essential. Joined 3 Swedes including a young lady on the first tee as I was on my own and enjoyed their company. However they were high handicappers in the late twenties (I'm off 18) and not the fastest players but did their best but we were constantly badgered by a marshall. If the club "welcomes" ALL golfers including those who just want to play "whilst on holiday" they should be more patient or reserve seperate tee-off times for the high handicappers to allow the more experienced players play more quickly?
Great course. We stayed on a villa overlooking the fifth fairway and played the course twice. Totally agree about the marshalls though - rude and unreasonable!
We played here on 11/05/01 - I was very impressed. The greens were excellent and the course interesting and challenging . The fairways were as good as some greens i have played on lately ! One fault - the 03rd Hole -par 03 70 Yards its very silly !!! Clubhouse facilites very good - however beware you can't get breakfast before 10.30am ! Test you acuracy off the tee all the way round - you have to be straight !! In conclusion I would highly recommend playing here
A GROUP OF 16 OF US PLAYED THIS COURSE ON 20/09/00;THE COURSE HAD BEEN RECOMMENDED TO US BY NUMEROUS PEOPLE. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A TOTAL ANTI -CLIMAX. LOTS OF WORK IS CURRENTLY BEING CARRIED OUT ON THE COURSE, 16 OF THE GREENS ARE TEMPORARY,YOU ARE WAITING ON EVERY HOLE FOR THE GROUNDSTAFF TO WATER/MOVE EARTH/SAND GREENS ETC,AND TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY THE MARSHALLS VISIT YOU EVERY FOUR OR FIVE HOLES TO ASK YOU TO HURRY UP.(IT TOOK US 4 HRS 12MINS,WHICH I THOUGHT WAS QUICK FOR A FOURBALL.). I AM SURE THE COURSE IS BRILLIANT,BUT THE ON GOING WORK AND ATTITUDE OF THE STAFF ON THIS OCCASION HAS PUT US OFF. IF YOU ARE THINKING OF PLAYING THIS COURSE I WOULD ASK THE CADDYMASTER IF THE GREENS ARE BACK IN PLAY BEFORE PAYING £38.00. PLEASE DON'T THINK I AM OVER CRITICAL,JUST BEING HONEST SO IF YOU ARE THINKING OF PLAYING THIS COURSE YOU WILL NO WHAT TO EXPECT.
Played here 23/04/00. A class act!!!!! Without doubt, this is why you travel to Spain to play golf. Everything about this course oozes class. The pro shop, the clubhouse, and definitely the course itself. (Although it must have one of the shortest par 3's in the world, at 79mtrs you dont know wether to throw it, kick it or putt it!!!) The rest of the course is a joy to play. A good test of golf though so take your 'A' game. The greens, well , I will never again (unless I go back here) putt on such fast, true greens. Incredible!!. Hire a buggy though, a lot of ground between greens and tees. Definitely one to put on the agenda if you are anywhere close to Benalmadina.
