This is a stunning course. I was brought up by the Clyde but now live 500 MILES AWAY and recently joined as an overseas member If you have links with Scotland do apply for overseas membership, join this club and visit as often as you can. It's a great challenge and the members and staff are the best
It's a dream golf course. Pity I live 250 miles away because I'd gladly love to take membership. The beauty of the scenery is outstanding. No holes are the same. You don't have to play this course to enjoy it; just take in the magnificent surroundings. Not a course for the faint hearted, tough for the novice. Play this course once and you'll surely want to go back again and again.
Received a very friendly reception when I turned up recently to play here. The Club Secretary, Alan Taylor and another gentleman were very helpful and gave me a full explanation of the course. The weather was wet, in fact the fairways were sodden so that when your ball landed on them (mine didn't too often)it just plugged. Winter tees, mats and greens but that didn't spoil and excellent day's golf on a course with some stunning scenery and some really challenging holes. You know you're in for a tough round as you stand on the 1st tee and look uphill all the way to the distant pin on what is a long par 5. Some tees are elevated and a good drive can put you in with birdie chances. The par 3's are fair the 17th being especially attractive. The last hole is a real tempter for the big hitter and I almost pulled off a birdie. I'd certainly go back and try again. Traditional clubhouse which looked very friendly but unfortunately time constraints prevented me from staying.
What an outstanding course one of the best in Scotland in my view. The greens were very consistent for a wet May and there was a unique challeng at every hole. The views from the course and clubhouse are absolutely magnificent, hard to believe there is such beauty just minutes from Glasgow. We came down as a party and recieved top class service from the Professional, the Caterers and the Club Representatives, their friendliness and attentiveness made this an Unforgettable day.
Played Sunday 31st August tw for one for the second time this year. Course was in great condition greens in particular. Hope to get another game in before the end of the season. would recommend this to anyone thinking of an outing in this area.
PLAYED THE COURSE IN A OPEN COMPETITION RECENTLY, IT IS IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION WITH THE GREENS THE BEST I'VE PLAYED ON FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOUR NOT PLAYING WELL THE VIEWS ARE SPECTACULAR, JULY 2005
I picked a very nice spring day to play this hill gourse but it was well worth the visit which I hope to repete later on in the year. The course was set out for winter play using temp tee's and playing off mats but this did not deter the playing conditions and course layout. For the time of year the greens were very consistant and relativly fast. The views from the course and the club house were some of the best I have ever seen. Club house facilities were very good as was the staff behind the bar and in the kitchens. All in all an excelent dayout and one that I would recommend.
this course is a real cracker so good that we fly up to glasgow for the day to play it. views are breathtaking staff friendly a must play course
I played this course for the first time in an open greensome competition on 13th July 2003.It was a fabulous warm summer's day and the condition of the course was excellent. In addition the views from the course and the clubhouse over the Firth of Clyde were absolutely stunning. The quality of this course is outstanding with some memorable holes where you play from elevated tees. I am confident that no visitor to this course would be disappointed.
Competed in the June 2001 Open. Was lucky enough to play with a member (the son of the secretary) who was able to give advance warning of what was to be faced at every hole in advance. The weather was wonderful, the course was a delight to play with many interesting holes and the views were just sensational. Only gripe was no Guinness sold in the bar! Will definitely be back using either a greenfeesaver coupon or openfairways card.
Ex club champion now living in Myrtle Beach,SC,USA. Outstanding views of river Clyde and beyond, great value for money. Ian Rose([email protected])
