Played here a few times as local S&A Seniors' Team member. Always enjoyed this excellent course with great variety of holes, good condition, but most of all a friendly, welcoming club. Looking forward to next visit!
Played here 13/06/2012 and can only echo the comments posted. The course was one of the most enjoyable I've played. The holes are different, the greens excellent and the staff and members very hospitable. At £35 it's probably a touch expensive but I'm sure there some deals to be had if playing in a group / society. All in all, well worth a visit.
keep your eyes open or you"ll drive right past this course, even though its on a main road.Once there though you will enjoy this well looked after course,it has a good variety of holes with superb greens,an whilst playing its easy to forget your seconds from the industrial town of st.helens. Danny
I played 27 holes here 6/7/6 with Charnock Richards Seniors on our annual day out. It is absolutely fantastic in every respect !! A great golf course with an excellent mix of holes with super greens, superb fascilities, excellent food and genuine St.Helens friendliness all round. Not one adverse comment from our set of grumpy old men speaks for itself ! A must play - must re-visit golf course
Played this course with works society on 28/04/06 great course to play. Played 9 holes in the morning and then eighteen in afternoon, course in great condition for the time of the year although grens were the fastest i have ever played. Staff very good and had excellent meal in clubhouse afterwards, would recommend to anyone in society to try this course out. Great day out.
This is a magnificent James Braid designed golf course. It is very well maintained with great definition of each of the holes and good greens. I would recommend anyone to try this course, but be quick I hear that a bit of madness may be descending on the course with a scheme to lift and replace the greens. It's one disadvantage is the practise ground is limited to hitting medium to short irons. Try it.
An excellent course. It had been raining in the North West for several weeks and the drainage was excellent. A fair challenge of golf and a must for all players in the area.
Took the Girobank Golf Society to this course and all of our members were amazed at how well the course played. The greens were extremely quick for this time of year and the ground conditions quite dry even after a heavy downpour overnight. Great value for money at £18 including a breakfast!
The works society played at the Grange Park on Friday last. The greens are as good as we have ever played. The course has had a major turn around within the last year and I would recommend the Grange Park to any society. Thanks for a cracking day.
I have recently played this course and have to say that the quality of the fairways, greens and friendliness of members was outstanding. I believe that the club has a new head greenkeeper and the transformation from early last year when the last report was written is remarkable. I would recommend this course to anyone and can't wait to see what it is like in the summer!
We played the course as a Society in April this year, everybody was very friendly and the food was superb. The only complaint we had was the state of the greens and the price we paid. 15 holes were heavily top dressed, one was a temporary green and the only two greens which were anything like were the 9th and 18th, which without wanting to insult anybody's intelligence were as you would expect right by the clubhouse. There was on chap in the changing room who was complaining of having to pay £8 as a members guest, imaging how our lads felt having paid £26 for the 18 holes. Our secretary wrote to the club expressing our views but as yet have not received a reply. We realise that work has to be done but would expect to be recompensed in some way. In the same situation last year at the Alsager Golf Club where the greens were in a similar state we were given a £10 refund for every player.
One of the best courses i have ever played, a superb day out. The members are very friendly when ones ball is lost. The 4th hole is absolutly superb. It contends with the best of them. A must play for you golfers out there! take the family.
I definately agree with the previous entry - this is one of the best courses in the North West. I must disagree on one point though - the par 5 12th and the par 4 3rd are both better holes than the 7th. However the 7th is still a very good hole as are all the holes and this is Grange Parks best atribute - every hole from 1 to 18 is superb both in design and in condition.
A good golf course and in very good condition, a must play for anyone in the area. Greens are of superb quality. There is hardly a bad hole on the course and the par 4 seventh is one of the best holes in the North West.
