This is a course that will suit both accomplished golfers and "hackers" like me! The hazards are laid out such that you can play safe OR you can take the course on. If you do, watch out because there is plenty there to catch you out! Wonderfully kept, a credit to the greenkeepers and a joy to play. Friendly members and the proshop is well stocked, is a little on the small side, so it's quite cramped in there. If you play with a member, it's excellent value for money - £12 a round which is significantly less than any local muni you care to mention.

The name conjours up all sorts of images of an old fashioned, stuffy club. Anyone who plays golf in the Birmingham area will tell you that about this place. The reality is that whilst the grandeur of the club is a little faded, this is actually a very nice parkland course with friendly members. The first hole from the back tees looks tough, slicers beware, there is water all the way up on the left! The rest of the course meanders it's way through suburban Birmingham, finishing with a tough par 5. Treelined throughout and with a definate sence of history, this is a course to play (if you're lucky enough to get the chance!)

An excellent golf course in very good condition. Greens quicker than they look. If you do not drive straight, leave your driver in the car. A very fine clubhouse with good food and very friendly staff. In fact, the Members we encountered on our day at Handsworth were very friendly also. A "must return to" golf course offering very good value for money and excellent day rates.

PLAYED THE COURSE 9/6/00 WITH "DOWTY GOLF SOCIETY" AND HAD A VERY GOOD 27 HOLES OF GOLF. THE COURSE VERY MATURE AS ITS 105 YEARS OLD, AND IS VERY WELL KEPT WITH THE GROUND STAFF IN CONTSANT ATTENDANCE. THE GREENS WERE SLICK AND FAIRWAYS LIKE SOFT CARPET UNDERFOOT. IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO PLAY THIS COURSE, TAKE IT YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED. THE ONLY WORD OF CAUTION DO NOT GET CARRIED AWAY WITH WAYWARD DRIVES YOU WILL BE PUNISHED AS THERE ARE PLENTY OF TREES, PONDS AND DITCHES.
