I assume the golf course was playing better previously going by other comments. We played this course at the weekend (16/10/05) and the course was in very poor condition. Tees were in very bad condition, the fairways had not been cut for some time and you were just as likely to get just as good a lie in the rough as on the fairway. The greens were also in pretty poor condition, very slow, uncut and badly marked. Also, bunkers looked like they hadnt been raked in days. I suppose it is october though.. I would suggesting paying an extra £6 and going up the A128 five minutes to South Essex golf course where you will a course which is far better value for money.

Out of the many Pay and Play course in Essex this is by far one of the best value for money, The cost approx £18 is very cheap considering the condition of the course. This is a fairly tree lined course and the greens though not very challenging are in very good condition. This is a perfect place to play for a cheapy round of golf. The views are great and the holes vary in layout.

Agree with the other comments. A very nice muni. London clay so does get waterlogged in winter. Tree lined, some nice views, generaly pleasant. Best hole is the 5th (index 1). Only negative is that it can take a long time to get round.

One of the better council courses in Essex. Certainly a pretty course in the summer months, but can be prone to waterlogging in the winter, just as most other local courses can be. A relatively straight-forward opening hole, but things do get tighter, particuarly with the trees in full leaf. Turf is springy under foot, and the course is flat, so the walking is easy. As with most municipal courses, the greens aren't the best in the world, but the course scores high on the value front. The shop is very well stocked and one of the cheaper ones around... Advisable to pre-book, definately at the weekend in summer.

Course is still one of the best value in the area. Only £15 at the weekend and 2fore1 scheme available after 2pm. I tee'd off at 13:37 and did not wait at a single hole until the 12th when a ladies comp had backed things up. The course is in the best condition I have known although a couple of the greens could do with a cut, but compared with previous years they are in good condition.

Good Impressions last....and this is no exception. Nice fairways that make you think about your shot rather than boom them. Challenging Par 3's. Woodland area straddles most of the fairways that do require you to be accurate with your tee shots. 7/10 difficulty.....Not bad for a pay n play. some greens manky!!

Excellent municipal course with quite a few challenging holes, particularly the par 3's. Greens are not of a high quality and there is quite a walk to the next tees on 50% of holes. Value for money 9/10. Difficulty 7/10. Overall 8/10.
