I am now 19 years of age and have played this course since i was 14 when i lived on the RAF base, i have sinced moved out, and still regularly sign onto the base just to play this course, its simplicity in design is deceptively difficult with extremely well protected greens, especially the 5th/14th with the line of fern trees almost creating a wall against any weak or wayward drives. I think that in the small area the golf course had to be built on, it has done extremely well to make itself tricky for most golfers, young or old. Great for a starting course for aspiring golfers, as more open courses become easier to score in the future on due to accuracy being tested and required throughout Henlow's course.
I had not played golf for 5/6 years and Henlow was a pleasant re introduction to golf. Its a deceptively difficult 9 hole golf course with well protected greens, alternative tee positions and a 10th green for variety and a fair amount of wind making club selection interesting. Withh first impressions it does not feel like a golf course, but once your playing it's a different matter. With a guest green fee of £10 its outstanding value and well worth visiting for any aspiring golfer.
