Real gem of a course hidden in the undulating South Yorkshire countryside, spoilt only by the natives. As a two-ball, we were chased around the back nine by a four-ball who seemed intent on breaking the world record for the fastest nine holes in history. Unfortunately, the blundering four-ball in front of us refused to let us through, which eventually led to us being bombarded on the last hole - we were no more than 200 yards down the fairway when balls started raining around us. Well done lads. Those two minutes must've made all the difference. So, apart from the one-and-a-half-hour speed-golf back nine, it's a superb course, but try to play here when it's quiet so you can enjoy it. At £16 on a 2-fore-1 it's a real bargain providing you choose your tee time carefully.

I played the course September 2000 and due to the inclement weather did not manage the whole round. However what I experienced was a pure delight, even with borrowed clubs (as the pro shop had been burgled the night before). cannot fault the meals and the hospitality is second to none. For your next round, visit Hickleton G.C. (Then again, I'm a bit biased!!) Mark Hickleton, Warranwood, Australia.

where do i start? this is pure quality. course is top notch, tee area's and fairways all in excellent condition. greens are very fast. its a pleasurable course to play with a lot of variety in the holes. the course will challenge low cappers too. There's excellent practice facilities too. Putting green, practice ground, and also practice nets. the clubhouse is quite simply a modern thing of beauty. Im told the caterers were given the boot and replaced with a top notch chef who knows his stuff ( cant verify this as i didnt eat there ) The food prices were very reasonable though. Ive just played my worst round of the year on this course and its still got me banging on about how good it is. dont take my word for it though, go play it yourself. you'll be in for a real treat.
