Another North Leeds course, another partial wallow in mud! End of November, after 60mph winds, and the course was still rather wet - at least half a dozen holes had fairways where you were trying to hit against a sodden track - cue sixty yard shots with turves flying through the air, and clubs having to be cleaned. Ah well, the price was right, the greens very good considering, and some interesting holes up and down dale - you have to cross two roads and duck the 11.15 flight to Amsterdam (the course is a near neighbour to Leeds/Bradford airport and just as high!). Like other older courses in the area, some holes just go up and down in parallel as only ok par 4s, and the par 3s are far too long for winter conditions (but interesting). Clubhouse immaculate and very attentive - could not fault the service. But will have to play Moortown or Alwoodley to see whether there is a dry course in winter in North Leeds!!!!!
Our golf society made a visit to Horsforth during our four day tour of golf courses around Leeds. With so many courses in the area, deciding which to choose wasn't easy. This course came as a recommendation from a local fireman and I owe him a drink. On arrival, we were greeted like old friends and the food service was excellent. Having a variety of golfers within the group, I can honestly say that all came away having enjoyed the round. The course had something to offer golfers of all abilities. The greens were kept in very good order and the fairways quite forgiving. Following the round, we had a lovely meal, again with excellent and friendly service. I can't recommend Horsforth highly enough. Great day out
I played in May 06, with a member. Friendly staff, hardly saw any other members on the course mid week. Greens, tee's and fairways in good nick. Some scary Tee shots with O.B. on to the run way! A great day and close to some great curry houses so a great day out for a society.
A superb course in excellent condition all year round. The greens are the best I have played on in the area, and there is enough variety to make a very interesting challenge at each round. Very long par fours can easily perturb high-handicappers, and provide a real challenge to low handicappers. Can be a little noisy due to a nearby Helicopter Air Ambulance Service which sometimes sits on the pad with it's rotors running, but watching the planes take off from Leeds Bradford Airport at such close quarters is always an excellent thrill! Simply put: my favourite and best-kept course I have yet played in Yorkshire.
This is a lovely golf course, that is well maintained and very playable. Some fantastic par 3 holes and great views of Leeds/Bradford airport (always good entertainment). Not the longest course in the world but enough variety to satisfy the novice golfer and enough challenges to make the course interesting to the lower handicap players to. Oh, and the greens are like lightning!!
