A challenging course with large undulating greens. A very enjoyable front nine not matched by the second nine. Played the course on a sunny day and found that the ground was firm and the fairways almost had a links feel to them. If you can't hit crisp iron shots off this surface then you never will. One disappinting hole on the back nine - nailed a drive up the left hand side of the fairway and it ran into rough on the right, two playing partners hit their drives up the middle and lost their balls following bounces to the right. It was a very dry day though. The par threes are a challenge. An old traditional stately home clubhouse had a 1930's/1940's feel to it. Worth a revisit for me
I recently played this course on a coporate invite, I found the club staff polite and informative, Course is in very good condition, greens fast but fair. Quite a hilly course, I would suggest if you want a buggy that you book one in advance as none where available by 10.30 on the day we teed off. On the down side, it is not obvious quite where you should go next on a couple of the tees and better marking on the 9th and 10th wouldnt go amiss. Also one of our party was rather sternly told off for his appearance by an elderly member who did not take kindly to his shirt not being tucked in whilst on the course, so be warned. Overall I enjoyed the course, and the meal was excellent. This is an old fashioned club though, so remember you knee length socks for the summer.
well worth making a visit to. This is a tough course and if the wind blows it is very tough, playing very long to all but the lowest of handicaps. Great greens, tip top condition and stand comparison to most courses anywhere, incuding the very best championship courses.
"CONGRATULATIONS - YOU HAVE FOUND HUDDERSFIELD GOLF CLUB" IS WHAT SHOULD BE WRITTEN BY THE ENTRANCE, AS THIS COURSE IS A DEVIL TO FIND! YOU KIND OF KNOW YOUR CLOSE TO A GOLF COURSE BECAUSE ALL THE LOCAL RESIDENTIAL STREETS AND CUL-DE-SACS ARE NAMED AFTER GREAT COURSES. AT THE END OF THE DRIVE, YOU REACH FIXBY HALL, THE CLUBHOUSE HERE. A REALLY IMPOSING BUILDING AND HOME TO ONE OF THE TOP CLUBS IN YORKSHIRE. THE CLUB IS VERY TRADITIONAL BUT THE CLUBHOUSE FEELS MODERN, AIRY AND RELAXING. THE COURSE OVERLOOKS THE YORKSHIRE COUNTRYSIDE, AND IS A REAL TEST. HUDDERSFIELD IS A PARKLAND COURSE, QUITE HILLY IN PLACES AND WITH QUICK GREENS. THE LIST OF CHAMPIONSHIPS HELD BY THE CLUB BEAR TESTAMENT TO HOW HIGHLY REGARDED THE CLUB IS.
PLAYED THE COURSE A FEW YEARS AGO RECENTLY REVISITED THE NEW GREENS ARE VERY GOOD. FIRST CLASS WELCOME FORM ALL STAFF GOOD DAY OUT
This is an excellent course, set in mature parkland to the North of Huddersfield. The club does accept visiting parties and special rates are available to groups of over 20. The club are currently embarked on a plan to upgrade their greens to the USPGA standard. As one of the championship courses of Yorkshire, this is one not to be missed.
Dear Sir,\r\nAs Course Manager at Huddersfield Golf Club, may I advise you that the secretary's name is Mrs Dianne Locket and not as you have stated on your web page. Furthermore, the Professional is Paul Carmen.\r\nRegards,\r\nAllan Lofthouse\r\nCourse Manager
