Humberstone Heights Golf Club

This was the first full size course I ever played, and I still find it a challenge. The 8th, 14th, and 15th holes are the toughest holes, all par 4's over 400 yards. The course when last played was in good condition. For a municiple it has a range of facilities; a 9 hole pitch and putt, and a floodlit driving range to mention. One criticism I would have is that some of the holes are similar in character, perhaps a water feature or two would help the layout.

Me and my dad played this course for the first time 9/2/08 and i was very impressed. As you walk up to the pro shop you can see a hole that amazed me. It was the first hole, a 351yard par 4. But it was the way the hole looked, it just looked so different to any other 1st hole that i have ever come across. But as we entered the pro shop we were greeted with "we're a bit busy today" And that was the start of a miserable round... we were behind a man and woman. But the woman could not hit the ball to save her life. We were stuck behind this woman up until the 9th when they finally gave up and went home. During this time though we queued up on the 6th tee because the club secretary came over and told us to let the people behind to play through because they were playing in a club match. We were disgusted. I was then nearly killed on the 18th hole as i unfortunately hooked my drive left. Now i'm sure the rule states that a person who has "lost" their ball has 5 minutes to look for it????? 1 minute had past by and the people behind were starting to get frustrated and shouted at me to hurry up. They got so impatient that they actually hit their drives and one of them came 2 feet by me after i was rushed to look for my ball. This course has not set a fantsatic impression on me but otherwise a good municiple course to play on with some challenging holes but it's just a shame that the other people don't have any courtesy for fellow players.

not the easiest of municipal coarses and value for money is high by any standard the overall condition at present is a little soft underfoof due to large amounts of rainfall, some of the most fantastic views you can imagine for a coarse located so close to a busy city. dont listen to the moaners wait till the sun shines and try it and decide for yourself, freindly members and staff await your visit. ps dont leave without a visit to the bar. good food also available.

Having been a member here in the past i was quite supprised when i saw the changes to the course after 8 years away from it. its now a fair bit shorter but still a good track to play. best hole is still my old favourite the 9th a raised tee aiming into a right to left dog leg in the vally. this was where i hit my first 300 yard drive so im a bit one sided. however the course its self is still in good nick mostly. the new greens a a bit long and wooly but as all new greens they will need time to settle. the rest are great.some long and short par 4 holes some long and short par 3 holes and two resonable par 5s ( well i never reached them in 2 shots ) worth the green fee when the new greens mature. top quallity driving range with auto tees , cheapish food and drink in the club house too, reccomended!!! most council courses are now moving up to £17 in leicestershire. go on give it a try maybee book a lesson with phill highfield who first tought me to swing a club and that was about 20 odd years ago and he as still there!!

4 of us played this course yesterday , having heard the rennovations were now complete . The 3 greens that were affected were very slow and had a 'woolly jumper' feel but the others were in good condition. Overall the course is still a challenge but just worry about the spiralling green fees . £17 for a council course is just about borderline .

i have played three municiapal courses in leicester and this one is by far the best. it is a well kept, attractive course, with the 1st, 9th and 18th offering an attractive view from the tee. the people working at both the driving range and the pro shop are extremely helpful, which makes the course stand out among other local municipals even more. there is a good variation of holes offering a challenge to any level of golfer. i would recommend a visit here to anyone short on cash. excellent value for money.

A cool council run course, with full practise and coaching facilities. Helpful staff and decent pro shop makes it popular with the full range of abilities. Undulating parkland course that occassionally has drainage problems in areas after heavy rain. Awesome views of Leicester City, coupled with big mature trees, tough rough and craftily placed bunkers makes this one of the best municiples in the county. Favourite hole is the 9th, par 4, elevated tee, hitting into a right to left valley. 2nd shot to green by the clubhouse, stream right, sand left, makes a nice finish to the front nine.
