A 'nice' course rather than anything too brutal. Typical Yorkshire countryside surrounds the course, and once out on the course the view of the Moors is prectacular on a sunny day. Ilkley was probably an absolute brute before the onset of modern equipment, distance balls and square-headed drivers. In fact, the whole club and town seems to be (in a nice way) in a 1960's 'Heartbeat' style time-warp! Play it for the scenery, the friendly welcome in the clubhouse, the teas & scones and the knowledge that you are following in the footsteps of Colin Montgomerie and Make James who learnt their trade here. Don't come here expecting three figure scores on a 7000 yard beast of a course, just enjoy the day! The greens were better when I played than when the previous reviewer did. The bunkers are OK I guess (didn't really go in them!) and the fairways are a pleasure to hit off.

Taking advantage of the twilight offer at this fabulous course has become an annual June ritual - it is a fair trek from the centre of Leeds at rush hour but is well worth it. It is a truly lovely course. Not long or overly challenging - and no really stunning holes to stand out in the memory, but for beauty whilst it ambles along the River Wharfe it cannot be beaten. Well worth the trip out and the Harry Ramsdens on the way home!

very impressed with everyone at the golf club.warm welcome from the pro on arrival, excellent catering service, and the course was obviously well cared for by greenkeepers who took the time to do even the small jobs properly. the design of the course makes it a good test for every standard of golfer with the high handicapper unlikely to lose too many balls.the telephone manner from the admin. staff was also first class when making initial enquiries about tee times. I think the club is well run at every level and visitors will be rewarded with a day out to enjoy

A stunningly beautiful course alongside the River Wharfe, one of the holes being on an island in the river! Some challenging holes in a glorious setting. This course must rate as one of the finest in Yorkshire, well worth a visit.
