We played this yesterday as the final venue of our golfing break. Just what we needed, a course that was not too penal but it would be if you used too much of the 'big' furniture. Lovely, well designed and sculptured holes, pleasant views and a course that's very easy on the eye in a very nice setting. Pro and staff most helpful too.
Played the course (for the first time) 20 June 2014. An absolute delight. Stunning scenery, a course in excellent condition and friendly people. Challenging but extremely enjoyable.
Very nice course in good condition with great views. Members very friendly and helpful to visitors. I played it with two friends and a 2-FORE-1 voucher meant we only paid £20 each (£60 in total) for a Day ticket - terrific value. Obviously if there were 4 of you it would be even cheaper!
First course we played on a golfing weekend and spoiled the rest of the courses that we played on it was that good. Course in first class condition, greens excellent, members we spoke to round the course very helpful. Bloke behind the bar helped plan our next couple of days. Buggys would have been a plus, but you cant have everything. On the whole spot knack.
This is a great golf course, a good test of your game. We also found that members and the pro were very helpful and we will certainly return.
organised an easter trip to kendal, windermere and finished at kirkby lonsdale. and what a way to finish! magnificent parkland course with plenty to keep you occupied. we had to play one hole from temporary tee, but otherwise everything was in excellent condition. they have just planted 10,000 trees around the course which will no doubt add to beauty (and difficulty). this should perhaps give you an idea of how much space the golf club occupies. this course was not packed in to the smallest area possible. i will return next year, and probably the year after too.
Played on a gorgeous April morning, views were just breathtaking. Layout is great & winds wonderfully through the Yorkshire countryside. Course is a good test although not too difficult for the novice. Club choice is quite tough as invariably playing to a green above or below the fairway. Best hole probably the 14th for risk/reward. Very friendly welcome. RECOMMENDED. £25 on 2-FORE-1.
A fine course, this, always in good condition. There are few weaknesses, and some memorable holes. Best of all is the 8th, a par 5 which is within reach of two big blows, but which for ordinary mortals plays as a double dogleg. Out of bounds guards the right hand edge of the fairway off the tee. After a near 90 degree turn, a fairway bunker lies in wait for a thinned second, then the green lies some 100 yards beyond, shielded by bunkers and mounds. The course is challenging and fair, with some exhilarating and entertaining holes. The river Rawthey comes into play on a few of them, especially so at the short 17th, where it claims many a well-struck but misjudged short iron.
