myself and 2 friends played lauder on the 20th July 2010 straight after playing jedburgh and i was really impressed with this quaint little 9 hole course. the course was in really good condition with the greens being in tip top condition. hitting the fairways was essential here as the rough in places was very penal but if you drove the ball well the opportunity to score well was there! i think my favourite hole was the par 4 4th which is a big dog leg left and i also liked the 8th, but to be honest all the holes were good. a nice little course which is well maintained and it has to be the most peaceful track ive ever played. we stood on the 5th fairway and there wasnt a sound. pure bliss! overall rating - 7 out of 10
A good test of golf awaits at Lauder. Quaint little clubhouse, honesty box system. The greens were immaculate and the fairways lush and well cut. Some testing holes you have to be straight as rough is thick. Holes 1 and 2 slight climbs hole 3 200 yard psr 3 hole 4 a 90 degree dogleg a good drive a must! Hole 6 par 3 'quarry'you see top of flag and if you are not straight take a provisional as we spent 10 mins looking for 3 lost balks! Great views if Lauder from this hole too, a decent 9 hole course that I would certainly play again
The sheep are now off. Considerable improvements have been made to Lauder Golf Course as a result of the removal of the sheep and as a committee and playing member of the club I know that all future visitors will enjoy a good days golf at one of the best and most testing 9 hole golf courses in the Scottish Borders.
