I played the manor golf course on sat 11 oct with the welcome golf society,it could be a good course if the greens had been cut and rolled.we played the first nine holes in the fog so i only seen part of the course. It is a good test of golf but the greens need work.Good food and a friendly staff made the day worth wile, I will play the course again.
This course was value for money. Good holes, great views and cost us only £15 each! The Greens were true and undulating but to slow which was a shame as the the rest of the course was a delight. The bar was a little disapointing but did the job. The food the we had was poor (over done bacon was like shoe leather). The staff though were friendly. We will go back but maybe not trying the food.
Fantastic course. A great challenge. For february this track was in great nick. Looking forward to seeing it in summer.
LOVED this course, want to go again tomorrow everything about the place is unique, the course is brilliant, the staff are friendly, the food is excellent and nobody is trying to rip you off
Great course really great atmosphere members and staff really looking forward to this years season here as its in great condition.
Top Golf Course! Very very very impressed. Welcomed by staff on arrival, Excellent layout with not 2 holes the same. Bunkers aren't great but the views, wildlife and general condition of the course was superb. Greens were top notch, played early and the staff had already been out cutting. Worth a round, normally get it half price if you book online at £12.50 which is a total bargain. Will be playing this gem again, voted as Staffordshires Club of the Year 2010. If you want to try golf how it was meant to be, give this it a try. If you don't enjoy it you are playing the wrong sport.
Absolutly cracking course, played last weekend. Had been raining for the few days before but the course was in great condition. Getting a very good true roll off the greens, shocked to read the comment below fairways were off top quality very very impressed. Also played Uttoxeter day before and that was very disappionting. If you are in teh area its worth going a mile or two out to get to the Manor. Very friendly top class course well worth the money. Will be returning. Thanks
we played this course on sunday 29th,it was a nice day, until we seen the state of the greens, they were very bumpy with a lot of holes everywhere, the fairways were very muddy and not much grass in most places,i came here a year ago and it was in a lot better condition then,i do like the course but it needs some tlc at the moment.it maybe another year before we visit again, sadly.
Played this course after a night of heavy rain and four of the holes had been closed, thought that the rest of the course may be a mess but what a surprise! The greens are in excellent condition and are really a credit to the greenkeepers. The course isn't long but with all the rain we had no run on the ball so it played longer than the card suggested. This is a cracker of a course and would recommend to anybody looking for a nice day out, and the price is good to £10 each with a two fore one voucher. Have said that I would not join another golf club but if its as good on my next visit I could well be tempted to join here.
ever improving and a real delight One of the best kept secrets in the midlands.Three brand new greens due to be open in july will enhance its reputation further.Strategy not strength the order of the day.Beware the rough the grass is the strongest you'll ever hit out of and is a great defence against a shortish length course.off course excellent food and a shop for more balls available!!!!Moving to this club from stafford castle is the best thing i've ever done.
I play here as regular as possible during the summer months the course provides a challenge to both the beginner and accomplished golfer and is kept in excellent condition throughout the year. The clubhouse facilities are excellent with a fantastic view over both the first and the final approach to the 18th as well as an overall view over 60% of the rest of the course and has a friendly, informal and welcoming atmosphere. It has a golf shop which is pretty well stocked and also has refreshments and they accept the 2fore1 vouchers. The course could maybe be a little longer but has some excellent holes including the 153 par 3 5th on which last year i experienced my first hole in one (fantastic) cost me a bit though! i recommend this course to all levels of players!.
Please can you remove my details and comments that i posted early april. Thanks Adrian Micklewright
My personal favourate coarse in the midlands. My downfall in the game has to be my tee shot, playing here forgives a shorter tee aslong as you can keep it on the fairway. Coarse is well kept and the greens are a delight. My biggest tip though would be to hire a buggy as it is a bit up and down hill.
An intriguing and tricky course that will offer you a real test of golf. The 2nd and 16th are Par 3's of real quality that require very precise tee shots. The Par 4's are generally short, but heavy rough and water hazards compensate for their lack of length. Two of the Par 5's are in excess of 500 yards and played into a strong headwind the day I played. This course is a pleasure to play and requires strategy rather than length. Reaching for the driver at every opportunity is not recommended!!! The greens were very lush and putted a little too slow for my liking, but were in good condition.
The Manor is a superb course in the wonderful countryside. The second hole is if you scuff your tee shot a real killer. My greatest memory of this course will be a hole in one on the 16th. Available on the two fore one scheme this course is among the best i have ever played.
if you hane not visited the manor recently "WHY NOT" ? a lot of the greens commented on have been relayed as different level greens and the course itself is superb, try our famous "MANOR BURGER" if you dare!!! come to the manor you wont be disapointed I myself have been a member from the humble beginings of a nine holer and have seen a great number of changes over the years our club is now one, if not the best course in the area so dont be put off come and try and im sure youll be back!!
If you want to play a golf course on which no two holes are similar, then this is it! Each hole will test your skills in different ways. The short par-3 holes 8 and 9 have now been replaced with a par-5 and par-4 thereby adding length and more difficulty to the round! This course is a gem, hidden in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside so don't tell too many people about it!
Do not go to this course in the heat of summer. The greens are as hard as concrete and slope terribly. Not a great conbination. Youre ball will roll up to the hole and back to your feet free of charge. What a great thing this is. NOT!. Youre score will double. Oh! and just for the record the fairways are pretty neat and tidy and there is a nice new clubhouse. Never the less, good value in the winter because of 2-fore-1's.
