Cracking course to play. Some great holes coupled with great views over notts make this a very memorable course. Im a bit perplexed by the reviews about it being a bit too 'hilly'!! Try playing some parts of norfolk and then you will be begging for the hills!!! Played here twice and will be definitely be back again.

I'll start with the positives and ease into the negatives. The staff and members I met were very warm and friendly, though I was propositioned to join up to membership more than once. The practice facilities are all free and generally in good condition although on the range there is only two bays and you wont be able to hit much more than a seven iron. The general condition of the course is excellent, and is well maintained for the money people pay. Having said all this I really, really, really, did not enjoy the course, other than parts of the greens I don't think there is a single flat surface on the course, the sloping fairways left to right up and down are incredibly severe a lot of the time, I cannot emphasize this enough!! most drives are blind and I found the guide markers poorly placed for ideal lines into the pin for golfers with average length off the tee. in conclusion I live very close to this course and will NEVER play it again.

My friends and I played in the Seniors Open on May 14th 2008. Considering it was early in the season the Course was in terrific condition. Course management needs to be on the ball here though as there are such variations in terrain. We found it to be a very welcoming Club and thoroughly enjoyed our day. Players need a certain degree of fitness to play here though.

Played here in June 2004 on a society day. The course was in immaculate condition, with very fast greens. A previous reviewer said that the course is built on the side of a hill, but it seems more like it’s built on a number of hills; You rarely get a flat lie, and this provides much of the course’s difficulty, with some holes steeply uphill, some steeply down, and most of the rest sloping to the sides; It’s not the longest course off the yellow tees, but with plenty of mature trees, and the sloping fairways, it pays to think about where you want to put the ball. You also need to be reasonably fit, otherwise you’ll find the climbs exhausting ! All in all, a good test and well worth the green fee !

I think that this course is so good that next year that i will become a member. I also think it should hold a european event.

Maspperley is an excelent golf course which has improved immeasurably in the past few years, the greens are the best I have seen this year, and fairways also in great condition. The addition of buggies is very welcome and overall the course offers excelent value for money.

A course set on the side of a hill which ultimately proves to be it's failing as quite good shots into the fairway can end up in the rough sometimes costing a few shots. The greens are quite slick and can be hard to hold at times. Possibly the best hole on the course is the par 4 4th. A longish par 4 with a long thin green set against the slope of the fairway. A test to get par in the height of summer when the fairways are faster.
