It's a mixture of two courses. The best parts are at the beginning and the end, as they should be, right by the sea, with fast running fairways to wonderful greens. The newer part is good - this is the section from the 6th to the 14th inclusive - laid out a little further form the sea than the original nine holes. There are two par fives, both of which seem reachable in two, but which ask questions. The turf throughout the course is first-rate. The welcome is very warm - and they serve Jennings' beer! The overall layout is quirky and interesting, with a few walks of 100 yards between green and tee, and some holes criss-crossing. Sand in the bunkers is dark, like the sand on the nearby beaches, but plays fair. Pitches bite beautifully from the fairways. Several of the shorter par fours make you use your head. It's well worth a visit, especially as part of a Cumbrian tour.
