We played on a midweek evening at Mill Ride after reading good reviews on the place. We were not dissapointed with what we found. A very nice, pretty long and tight course that was a tough challenge. The opening par 5 is an easy first, but from then on your hitting over or around water to fairly narrow tree lined fairways. The course is quite long, nearly up to 7000 yards if I remember rightly, and with numerous holes almost forcing you to hit drivers you have to be on your game. The greens were nice and grippy and rolled well. and the overall condition was good. It was refreshing to play a course that was an actuall challenge rather than being made easy to keep the members happy. I think this course could become soemthing very good if a bit more work is done and they also have plenty of room to lengthen if needed. I would quite happily play here again, I was getting very bored of the easy members course that offered no challenge. And at 22 quid twilight midweek it ws great value.

Excellent course. Well worth playing and excellent variation throughout. Some short holes but the majority are long with good use of water and bunkers. Club house was a little unfriendly but the view out onto the great 18th is good. Course was in good condition.

I thought Mill Ride was an excellent course and not just because they allow visitors on a Sunday! The course is demanding due to its length and the excellent bunkering and use of trees. In particular I loved the par-3s with the 3rd hole and the last par 3 (the 15th?) being fantastic. The 8th was too short off the yellows but would be a proper hole off the whites. The whole course looked well maintained and the clubhouse was attractive and welcoming. I would definitely return.

I played Mill Ride in May 2006 and I must say what a course! The greens are in excellent condition with lush fairways and plenty of fairway bunkers/ water hazards. It's long but very interesting which makes for a very enjoyable round of golf. The staff are friendly and helpful with good facilities.

My wife won a round for 2 @ Mill Ride in a Charity Auction, so her Father and myself took the oppourtunity to see what all the fuss is about. We played in March 2006 and the course was in excellent condition. The clubhouse and pro shop staff were very helpful, and the bacon rolls were not to shabby either :-) 1st is a cracking Par 5 that lets you open your shoulders straight away. From then on the course was a pleasure to play. Even though we were in March and it had rained heavily a for a few days before, the greens were in superb condition and very fast. Had a nice Eagle on the 5th, with a drive, 4 Iron and Putt. The holes and setting makes you want to play well. We are planning a return trip in the summer when all the trees will be out in bloom, which will make it even more attractive. One of the most enjoyable rounds of golf I have played in a long time. Get along and see for yourselves.

I played here in Sept 2005 with as I am looking for a new club to join in the area. I really enjoyed the course generally. I played off the white tees which made it long(ish) and had a good variety of open and tight holes. The greens were pretty quick with some tricky pin positions the day I played. As a visitor I would thoroughly recommend it - well worth a look. A few slight moans would be 1.The Tees NEED improving in places one or two were really scruffy. 2. I got held up 12 - 18th behind a group of 4 who just would not yield - not the clubs fault I realise. 3. Halfway house was closed (Saturday daytime). The ownership of the club seems to have swapped hands a few times and it shows in my opinion. The Clubhouse has seen better days - changing rooms why do people smoke in there?????????? On the upside there does seem to be a lot of energy going into the club however with a new clubhouse planned etc. If/when this happens I am sure it will eventually make this a first class venue the marketing and brochures suggest it already is ;-)

Simply sensational. Exclusive and Illusive. Hopefully they'll keep it that way. What a test.

What an awesome test of Golf. Close on 7000 yards of Parkland/Links Golf which tests every aspect of your game. The course punishes poor shots and rewards great ones (as a course should be). Somewhat exclusive, but very welcoming all the same. A great design (par 72) with awesome par 5's on the 1st, 10th and 18th especially. The 17th is a magnificent par 4 which plays close on 500 yards and has water in play for both the tee and approach shots. The 2nd is the most demanding par 4 you'll play off the backs. A 250 carry on the optimum line over water - you better be a big hitter. In summary, magnificent condition, super fast greens, gorgeous location next to Wentworth, Sunningdale, and the Berkshire in Ascot, exclusive membership but very welcoming. Only downsides, Tee Boxes are not all as perfect as the rest of the course, and the changing rooms are a tad dated and small. Get a chance, go play it, but beware if you are a high handicapper, the course will win!

Played Mill Ride yesterday - wow what a difference to when I last played it in 2002. It was awesome yesterday - greens great & course improvements fantastic - new tees, new bunkers etc. I believe new owners have got in a new GM & also European Tours Head Greenkeeper - it shows, an amazing transformation & reason why I have taken 3 x years to return. Fantastic - a MUST Play.

Fantasic. A Hidden, somewhat exclusive haunt in the middle of Ascot Berkshire. But what a hidden Gem it is. A rare 7000+ yard course sat between Wentworth, Sunningdale, The Berkshire and Swinley Forest. It certainly isn't deserves its place amoungst these. Some amazing Golf Holes, the 1st being a Par 5 that would make it's way onto any top 100 hole list. The 3rd being a 203 yard (most over water) par 3 which requires a solid mid-long iron depending on the wind. The 10th is as good a par 5 you'll ever play, the 15th reminds you of WoodHall Spa the bunkers at that deep below the green, and the 17th is simply a SENSATIONAL Par 4 that would find it's way onto any championship course on the planet. A stunning golf course, members only, very plush, but surely worth every single penny. Fabulous.

Mill Ride is situated in one of the most affluent areas of the UK and is surrounded by some of the finest golf clubs in the world such as Wentworth and Sunningdale. Despite this the course did not live up to my expectatons. Firstly the tee boxes were in dreadful condition. In fact the 9th tee box was one of the worst I have ever played on. The greens weren't much better either. The course is very open and at times reminded me of playing golf in a field. However I don't want to complain too much because Mill Ride is on the 2fore1 scheme so it worked out at quite cheap to play.

Mill Ride Golf Club is the hardest test of golf in Surrey/Berkshire. I have rarely played 18 holes of golf that demands so much concentration and shot making. Nearly every hole presents a different danger and forces you into quality ball stiking. The course favours the accurate driver of the ball with water on 7 holes. An ability to hit the ball high with long irons is an added advantage as all greens are well protected. Greens are large and undulating (reminds me of the great Irish links) and give the greenkeepers lots of options for different pin positions. This course is a must play and if you have time make sure you enjoy the food in clubhouse which is exceptional. This place is what all golf courses should aim towards - friendly, professional and 1st class.

Mill Ride is a "serious" golf club. It's a par 72 that plays just under 7000 yards. It has water on 7 of the holes, and is sighted as a parkland / links course. The venue has played host to many tour events, including the European Seniors tour, The Challenge tour, and the Ladies tour. Set between Wentworth and Sunningdale it's easy to see why the car park is full of Porche's and BMW's, you'll also find the likes of Glenn Hoddle, Tim Henman et al at the club. It has a select membership but also welcomes guests. It's not cheap but if you like golf, plain and simply you'll LOVE Mill Ride. Quality with an American style service to boot. Enjoy !!
