a group of 20 or so of us play here once a year, its great value for money, the accomodation, whether its the log cabins or the houses are very good, the course is not bad at all and has been getting better each year, the greens are decent enough as is the rest of the course, they could be better, but then its not gleneagles is it, no one can complain for the price your paying would reccomend to anyone, we always enjoy the golf and the weekend,
A group of 7 stay on this complex for a long weekend each year and find it great value for money. The cabins are basic but clean with shower, hot water and tv (not that you will watch much). The golf course is fantastic for the money you pay and unless you are tiger woods you will have a great time. We have been going to Millfield for the last 8 years and have had no complaints - that says it all.....
I have been going to this course now to play our self designated millfield open for the last 7 years. The cabins are great and the course is a challenge to any mid handicapper. The greens are not the best ive played but for the price the overall package is excellent. would recomend it to any large group wanting a good week away with the lads.
Just been to millfield for the weekend. Had such a brilliant weekend, group of 16 stayed in the log cabins - such pristine surroundings by the lake. Village pub excellent, nearby city of lincoln, great night out or just a meal out, plenty to do! The course was in amazing condition, the greens are brilliant and the course layout particuarly tricky, especially the challenging 16th hole. All in all, great value for money, we have been going 2wice a year for eight years now thanks to the very reasonable prices. looking forward to next year already
Mick Oldale (yorks )Just back from our usual pilgrimage having spent the weekend with a large party of golf nuts . As per norm its a weekend we all look forward to and we've not been dissapointed .The greens were superb although some TLC round the coarse wouldn't go a miss i.e tee boxes bit shabby but overall VFM . Whilst playing in himid , hot conditions a playing partner remarked on the lack of a ninth hole drinks box or even someone travelling the coarse armed with some much welcome refreshments .Just an idea I'm sure there must be some financial benifits for your golf complex. thanks for yous hospitality but maybe some customer care courses needed for the frightning lady in the cafe we drew straws to see who would dare ask for the scorecards !
We are a group of friends and work colleagues from Birmingham who vist Millfield (the hallowed ground) once a year, infact, this is about or 12th year. We love this course, well designed, good challenges and well maintained greens. The 9 hole course is a bit rough to say the least but it get's the swing going before playing the main 18 hole course. Accommodation is good and always clean and the people are always friendly, except for the women in the cafe who has a very vicious tounge on her! Don't upset her, she doesn't have a sence of humour. Course facilities are good and the pub in the village does superb meals. Watch out for the 16th, too little and your short, to much and you might as well play another ball. 2nd is a nice up hill with a tricky second over the trees to a hidden green, great hole. Always a good atmospher here, the place seems to have it's own climate, we have only ever had one year when we couldn't play due to the weather. Can't wait to visit again this year.
Played a round at Millield today as part of our Seniors Fixtures for the 1st time and was very impressed with the main course which was in great condition and the greens all presented a real putting challenge with their subtle variations in contours and firmness (not a weed or daisy in sight). Pretty hard to hold the greens when attacked from above so needed some concentration. Blind summits and hedges that make you think carefully about shot selection. Very friendly playing partners - Mike and Terry - helped us a lot so any individual would need a strokesaver and play the course more than once to get the better of it. Weather was brilliant too (25C) and not a cloud in sight. Well Done Millfield, we'll be back! Look forward to seeing you at Bawtry GC.
brilliant value for money dont be put of by the first green.good challenge if you are a high andicapper like me.22 on a good day. great pub in village apptly named friendship inn.great cabins.
Just been for the 1st time, brilliant value. Went for 2 nights. I was expecting a poor course and terrible accomodation for the cost but was suprised how good it was. Not Celtic Manor obviously but not bad. The Tee's are a bit worn but not suprising as its been one of the few courses to survive the floods. They should probably have banned the buggies during the wen spell as there are few messy area's in narrow gaps. Greens and Fairways were fine. The Bunkers could be better definition between the sand and grass needs to be clearer and some people may need to be reminded to rake them. But all in all very good and have already booked again for next year.
Fantastic facilities, we stayed in the apartments and felt guilty paying the price we did for such excellent facilities. The course is in good condition, not the best but certainly not the worst. A fair challenge, not too demanding but also no cakewalk. Fantastic value for money, a great weekend for a group of mates. Only downside as previously stated was the local pub didn't make us feel too welcome.
Been for the past five years, course is very good for high handicappers. The log cabins are excellent value. The pub in the villages is not very friendly at all, which is a shame as not much else around there. Lincoln is worth a night though.
4 lads decided to have a weekend away from the other halves and discovered millfield golf complex. Only being amateurs we found the course to be very forgiving in parts but also very fast and difficult to stop the ball rolling.(3 of us had the best games of our lives!)On an evening the local does not open till 6pm so trying to kill some time was a bit tedious but fine food and a warm welcome soon put pay to that.Next morning was thick fog but cleared by the 3rd.To sum up you cant go wrong for £30 a night with complimentary golf on tap!!! We shall definately go again soon.
WE HAVE PLAYED AND STAYED AT MILLFIELD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS .IT IS EXCEPTIONAL VALUE FOR MONEY AT £25 FOR TWO ROUNDS OF GOLF AND OVERNIGHT ACCOMODATION WHICH INCLUDE CATERING FACILITIES.I WOULD RECOMMEND THE COMPLEX TO ANYBODY.ALTHOUGH I WOULD PREFER THE STAFF TO BE A LITTLE MORE GENEROUS IN THEIR ALLOCATION OF SCORECARDS AS IT IS DIFFICULT TO MARK FOUR SCORES ON A ONE CARD .SO IF WE CAN OBTAIN A CARD EACH IN FUTURE IT WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED,THANK YOU IN ANTICIPATION
The par 3 course is great fun, although the teeing areas are awful. (For £2, you can't grumble!) The main 18 hole course is also good fun to play. Again, the teeing areas aren't the best around. The course is built on sandy ground which drains very quickly, even after heavy rain. During the summer months, it can get very hard indeed. It's almost impossible to stop the ball on some greens! The back 9 is by far the better. The 'other' 18 hole course is 'interesting'! Built mainly on old fields, it's predominantly flat and with many holes running parallel with each other, there's a vast amount of the green stuff to aim at! For £5 for the day, it's great for the occasional practice round.
Fantastic good course......padraig concannon(snr captain adare manor eire 2004 2005
Very basic, bad greens rough old fairways, but its six pounds..ok for kids or chasers of cheap rounds danny concannon eire snr pro2005
ENJOYED very much the game i played her 15th december, what value for money,£6.00 for play all day, wish this course was in ireland ,,,iwould live on the course ,and its not hard so that is the bonus.
played here 11th dec ...10.06 am,very flat and not much trouble to talk about, greens are not bad for winter, good value for money, will play here again next time im over here, very dry course with plenty of fairway to work with...The downside to this course for me is you dont need the driver...i m a 1 handicap player and enjoy long holes
EASY COURSE>>>OK FOR HIGH HANDICAPERS<JUST TO EASY FOR MY LIKING<DONT EXPECT TO MUCH COURSE OR CLUB HOUSE ITS A OLD SHED YOU WONT WANT ANY SNAP HERE>>>>>>>>>TRY THE OLD PUB IN VILLAGE,,,NOT GOOD BUT OWTS BETTER THAN NOWT

VERY NICE<AND EASY A GOOD COURSE FOR LEARNERS<NOT A TRUE SCORE AS ITS VERY FLAT AND WITH ANOT MANY BUNKERS TO FALL IN TO PLAY<WORTH SIX POUND BUT FOR MORE BIG HITTER RUFFORD PARK IS MORE OF A MANS COURSE AND NOT IN SAME CLASS AS HERE,YOU WONT GET AS GOOD AS SCORE AT RUFFORD AS HERE...
very good course, very easy to get round
Millfield golf Course is a great day out for any type of golf player. It offers a 9 hole golf course and an 18 hole golf course, aswell as a putting green and driving range. The price is very cheap for such a vast and well kept up with golf course.
A superb course well worth the money. The 1st hole is chalenging off the white tees as you are playing to a different green. The greens are in good condition though the tee boxes need a little work. On the whole a superb course and i will play it again without doubt. Matt Winning (Junior Captain 2005, Crookhill Park Golf Club)
HAVING PLAYED BOTH COURSES HERE I WOULD SAY THIS IS GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY. THE BOTTOM COURSE IS AIMED AT BEGINNERS WITH NO BUNKERS BUT PLENTY OF DYKES TO PLAY OVER. 62 PAR FOR £5. THE MAIN COURSE IS AIMED TOWARDS THE BETTER PLAYERS, CORRECT DRESS CODE REQUIRED, MORE BUNKERS, SOME BLIND TEE SHOTS, BUT STILL A VERY GOOD COURSE WITH LOTS OF VARIATION. THIS ONE IS £7.50. THERE IS ALSO A PUTTING PRACTICE AREA, DRIVING RANGE AND A PRETTY CHALLENGING 9 HOLE COURSE (WHICH CAN BE PLAYED AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT FOR £2) AND A VERY FRIENDLY CLUB SHOP WITH LOTS OF ADVICE FOR PLAYERS.
