I would agree with the entry below that this is the best golf course i have ever played. Everything about the place is class from arrival and welcome, pro shop, restaurant through to the course itself. The course was immaculate, particularly considering it had rained heavily on arrival. We were 12 golfers ranging from h/cap 8 to 28 and everyone had similar opinions of the place. It is tough but very playable. The 3rd, 10th and 18th will live long in the memory. Also, the putting course is well worth a visit, not for confidence though!!!
well maintained and testing course. the whole set up at the club is superb. people are friendly. pro shop is bursting with goodies and tempting you to spend. the day we played it was raining thriough out and it made the course even longer. the layout is typical jack nicklaus. lot of earth moved, plenty of bunkers and long carry. for an average golfer i would not recommend it. having said that you are sure to enjoy the day with all the facilities provided.
Played Summer 2005 & can safely say that this is the best golf course i've ever had the pleasure to play! Unlike previous descriptions, the fairways were lush and the greens were in excellent condition. There are a great variety of holes that offers something for everyone, and some that will live long in the memory! The starter will recommend which tees you should use as there are 5 in use to cater for all handicaps. The clubhouse is just as good as the course with excellent changing & bar facilities! We played using the 3 club pass, which cost less than the Mt Juliet green fee (?) and included Faithlegg & Waterford Castle.
Third time lucky. We played again in Summer 2005 and were rewarded handsomely. A great course in superb condition. All 16 of us could not fault the challenge or condition. The top score was 34 points which shows that this can be a fair test for all golfers. After a gentle start holes 2,3,4 are real beauties requiring accurate golf over water and tight bunkering. A majestic parkland course in a majestic setting. The club house is also open to all with the changing rooms and bar area all top notch. The real gem of the '3 club pass' which includes Faithlegg and Waterford Castle.
Played the course again this summer an was very disappointed. In preperation for an upcoming tournament they had laid sand across the whole course. There was placing on all the fairways and I had forgotten my bucket and spade! One hole was closed and the replacement incorporated the chipping practive green! We were given a half price refund before we even started. (We'd pre booked)The course is beautiful with some stunning holes - 3rd, 4th, 10th to name 3. But if you are thinking of playing I would definately check before hand the state of the course.
I played the course in August 2003 (the day before my wedding at the hotel)and was blown away with the quality of the course, the challenge of each hole and the facilities. The course was in great condition, although it took a while to adjust to the sand based fairways. The greens were a real challenge as you would expect for a course of this calibre. Some of the holes were just stunning. The par 3 third and par 5 ninth to name just two. It was a great day out and the facilities both before and after were great. It was that good I am going back this year again.
Thoroughly enjoyed the course, condition exeptional though a very difficult course without a course guide, luckily the course has a sky guide a brilliant planner made my club choice perfect every time. Hotel and dining without compare.
